We stayed here for two nights. The pictures of the rooms don't do it justice. We had a twin with a window view of the ocean and whilst not a private terrace, there were plenty of terraces in the hotel that we could use to watch the sunset! The breakfast is fab and the staff super helpful, giving great recommendations for places to eat. The rooms did not have the best soundproofing so we could hear people coming in late at night but overall it was a wonderful stay. The location was particularly brilliant! Right in the hustle and bustle of the town.

The room was average, nothing fancy; but worth it for the view when you step out the door. Perfect location on the caldera. Breakfast was the exact same every morning; included probably the worst ‘fruit cocktail’ you will ever eat 😛! Green apple and rock hard pear !!!

Great hotel built into the side of the hill in the middle if Fira. The location is perfect for restaurants and shopping right at the door. But the best part of staying here is Dimitri on the front desk. He was super helpful for booking us a car, suggesting restaurants and general information. The breakfast was great. Lots of variety but the same every day. The hotel is on many levels so the stairs may be a lot is you are on one of the lower floors but every level has lots of chairs and comfortable spots for your own private sunset view. I would definitely stay here again and the price is better than other hotels in the same area.

Dealing with a very difficult management who shows indifference, disrespectfulness and arrogance. Their room is a hit or miss, and they do not care too much and disregard your questions and requests. You do not want to test your luck and hope you will get a great room. Don't let your dream vacation in Santorini ruined by this hotel. Stay away!

So let’s start with what is not so good. The room was small, the light in the bathroom hardly gave any light, I had to switch the water heater on 15 min before wanting to have a shower, it was very noisy (possibly some kine of club next door) and there were a lot of stairs. I mean a lot. You get out of breath just getting out of the hotel in the morning. And most importantly, the wi-fi is a bit dodgy. On the plus side, it’s right in the middle of Fira town, so very convenient. It was cheap. And the views are spectacular. Breakfast on the terrace was a good continental spread served to you at your table and all you have to do is eat and marvel at the view. Also a great location to take in the famous Santorini sunset. The staff were all very friendly and polite, and very helpful when asking for suggestions. So if I had to choose again, yes I would stay here. I mean, who needs lights in the bathroom anyway.

Searching for the perfect sty in Santorini can be overwhelming. Look no further than Hotel Kavalari! We arrived in the nick of time for sunset on our first visit to Greece. The crowds even in September were 5-6 deep on the Main Street in Fira. But alas, our hotel, atop the Caldera boasts 4-5 terraces which we had to ourselves. A small bottle of wine in our room fridge added to our pleasure after our 20 hour journey. We could not have asked for better. Our room was breezy and comfortable. Do not be intimidated by the complaints of stairs. They are wide & well laid out with safety rails. Take your time! It’s the Caldera. This is what keeps Greeks alive far beyond others. The bed was a traditional platform euro mattress with clean fresh crisp sheets. And again- the view! Ahhhhmazing. Right out our door! The complimentary breakfast was delightful. An egg, ham & cheese, croissants and other Greek breads with tasty toppings. The best yogurt and fresh fruit ever and pots of hot tea and coffee. This location cannot be beat, smack dab in the middle of the Main Street just steps from every recommended restaurant, shop, gelato spot and nightly entertainment. But don’t fear the sound, we were not distracted one bit from the crowds above as we nestled in to a fine bing Hts sleep. Demetrius and all of the staff were helpful beyond compare and arranged transportation from the airport and to the ferry port. We will make this our future go to destination any time we return to Santorini

You simply could not find a better location for your stay in Santorini than this hotel, located smack in the centre of Thira. Whilst not the fanciest property on the island by any means, the location means you don’t need to leaves our hotel to jostle with the masses to se the sunset and taxis can get as close as anywhere and the walk is an easy 100m from the drop of point. (No hotel on the view side has drop off). The reception team are very friendly and super helpful with tips and info. There are so many restaurants close by. There is a small plunge pool, but no swimming pool, so if that is a must for you look elsewhere. The rooms are very clean and simply furnished and the breakfast is typical continental. I felt very lucky to have found this hotel and for the price, I think you cannot do better.

Never met a staff as friendly and genuinely nice, every single person has a smile on their face and is willing to help and cares for your needs. Salim and his amazing fresh breakfast deserves more than 5 stars. The view is breathtaking and the hotel and their many beautiful potted plants are well kept up with. Conclusion impeccable customer service, super clean, amazing view and very well located.

Where do I start.....we had a wonderful time at this hotel, it had everything we needed. This hotel is a hidden gem in a busy and expensive location and the cost of the Kavalari is very reasonable compared to other hotels close by. The views are beautiful which is why the cost of hotels on the cliff edge is high. People flock to see the views but at the Kavalari you get to watch the sunsets and Caldera from the luxury of your own balcony in a quiet crowdless space and photograph them all you like. That’s worth paying for. The staff here are friendly and more than helpful where they can be. We had a superior room (room 11) which is 2 flights down from reception. We had read the web page and wanted a bigger room with a balcony, we got what it said in the booking and what we paid for. Not all rooms have a balcony and these are cheaper but it clearly tells you what you get for your money on the web pages. The rooms are unique as this is a converted fishing captains house, don’t expect square modern hotel rooms, they are not. Most rooms are white washed cave type uneven walls which made it different. Thats what added to the character of this holiday for us, which we liked. The shower was small but had good strong hot water supply and the towels were lovely white & clean and changed daily. The room was spacious and had a big bed which was made daily and bins emptied daily. Fridge in room so you could keep your own drinks cold. Hairdryer in bathroom and tv in bedroom with limited news channels. Breakfast out on the seating landing was a served continental with plenty of nice fresh food : bread, boiled eggs, choc au pain, local cheese tarts, croissants, ham, cheese salami, fresh fruit salad and Greek yogurt tea and coffee everyday again sitting watching that spectacular view! We couldn’t want more. Little jacuzzi was nice to put feet in during the warm days when we got back from walking but it is cold water so we were not brave enough to actually sit in it even though the weather was 23 degrees. Loads of places to sit out in comfort and watch the world go by and sun sets. Hotel sat right on the Main Street to the bars, restaurants and shops, everything is on your door step. Bus station 5 min walk which takes you to all the other towns hourly for around 1.80-2.80 euros each way. The hotel is on a cliff side, do not go if you don’t want to climb stairs, again it’s part of the hotels charm and reflects the whole town which has stairs in all directions every couple of meters. I cannot stress how good this hotel is for the price, other hotels nearby are charging up to £300-£500+ per night for same views. I would definitely recommend booking a superior room upwards.
