The El Greco is set 10 minutes walk from Fira and local shops. The rooms are very clean and tidy and all look over different size pools. The pools are all clean and tidy but beds are in short supply with people putting towels on from at least 6 in the morning and then leaving them for hours. The breakfast is basic but fresh, and the bottom breakfast bar is much quieter and not so much a scrum. The pool bar is well maintained and the food is good. Special thanks to Julie and Toyah for all there hard work. I would definitely stay there again.
Stayed in this hotel in June. We arrived late and we met George on reception who was so friendly and helpful. As we were both celebrating special birthdays we got an upgrade which was lovely and we were very grateful. On arrival to the room there were two little cakes and a bottle of sparkling wine which was such a nice surprise. There are two restaurants in the hotel and our room was near the small restaurant so we had breakfast there each morning which was buffet style and plenty of choice for everyone. We had food twice in the bar in the hotel and it was very tasty. Big shout out to Julie who works in the bar. She is a very efficient, friendly person with a great sense of humour. She made us laugh every time we saw her and she is a credit to this hotel. Also a special mention of Alexandra (dark hair) who was working for breakfast most mornings and she was there in the restaurant the night we dined there. The waiter I think his name was Dionigis was great aswell. He recommended food and wine for us and he is also very efficient and friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing we dined from the A La Carte Menu. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job and our rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and we even had out towels turned into beautiful swans which were lovely. The hotel is a short walk into Fira where you can get buses to any part of the island for only 1.60 euro each way an amazing service. If you walk across the road from the hotel the view is just amazing and we watched the sunset here many nights. There are 6 or 7 pools in this hotel and if you were lucky enough to be up early enough to get a sunbed it is very relaxing by the pool. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santorini you won't be disappointed.…
We travel to Santorini almost every year and usually stay at El Greco but, on a couple of occasions, we did not manage to make our reservation early enough so we ended up elsewhere and I can say with full confidence that the contrast was so stark, we now make sure we book early because we absolutely refuse to stay anywhere else! The amenities are excellent and the location is unbeatable [close enough to the center of town and yet far enough to be removed from the noise]. But the best thing by far, is the staff. From the manager [Theo] to the front-desk staff [particularly, Iro, Kristina and Anna Maria], the breakfast room staff, the luggage carriers and the maintenance staff, everybody seemed committed to providing all the guests with the best experience. I only wish I could give them a SIX out of five rating!…
We highly recommend El Greco to anyone visiting Santorini. The rooms were spacious with their own little balcony. There were 6 gorgeous pools with chaise lounges. The included daily breakfast was delicious and fresh. The staff was helpful and the concierge was so knowledgeable and helped us set up day trips and taught us about sites to visit. It is a mere 5 minute walk to the center of town from the hotel. Can’t say enough wonderful things about this hotel.
Clean, well laid out hotel, clean rooms, 4 pools. Restaurant good, beers about 8 euro, wine 5 euro per glass. Breakfast buffet has good selection, 8-10.30am. Friendly, helpful staff. Not many children in hotel, more adult based. Walking into Fira centre is 10 minutes, the roads are busy with cars, buses, bikes, people. Fira has many bars, restaurants, you will pay more for a restaurant with a view, it’s cheaper if you go in a street or two, beers are 7-10 euro each, dinner will be 20-40 euro each Travel to other towns is easy, the local bus station is 10 minutes walk from hotel. Easily signed to the destination. Buses are 1.60 euro one way for most journeys. There is a timetable but the buses don’t always stick to that. They only take cash. If you get a taxi, it’s approx. 25 euro one way (to airport from Fira) Small supermarket just up from hotel (closed Sunday) bottled water is only 36 cents / litre, in the hotel you will pay more, and it’s not recommended to drink the tap water…
I was here for a week with my friend on the 20th May for a bed and breakfast stay. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a terrace. In fact, everywhere was spotlessly clean, due to the army off staff that worked from very early in the morning throughout the whole day. The choice of breakfast was incredible, hot and well presented. We only ate at the bar once and this was very good too. All the pools, (there are about 7) and the surrounding areas were clean and tidy with plenty of sun loungers - it is a shame that other guests felt the need to 'reserve' sun loungers with their towels from 6.30 in the morning! What was also very welcome was the fact that the hotel DIDN'T constantly play music around the pools meaning you could relax in peace. I cannot fault El Greco resort in any way, and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Other stuff: When we arrived, there was a bottle of fizz and some cakes in our room as they knew we were celebrating our birthdays - a lovely touch Santorini isn't really suitable for families with kids in prams/buggies due to how everything is built on slopes. We did a 5 hour catamaran trip with BBQ on board, through Viator which was excellent …
We have just come back from a 2 week holiday at this fantastic hotel. The staff made us feel so welcome and the service was outstanding nothing was to much trouble it felt like a family run hotel rather than a big resort special mention to the restaurant staff Alexandro,Dionigis and Gabriel who gave us 5 star service they always had a smile and good chat. Also Christina on reception was so knowledgeable and gave us loads of tips and advice on things to do and places to go. On our arrival a bottle of bubbly and a basket of fruit we in our room as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary which was a really thoughtful surprise. All the staff gave 100% and worked really hard the hotel and our room was spotless and the grounds were kept immaculate as well as the pool. Fantastic base for you to explore the island and minutes walk into Fira. Good to know we had full size fridge in our room so there was space for water beers and wine and a small freezer compartment for ice which was very useful so could enjoy drinks on our balcony. Great choice at breakfast definitely go to the one at the bottom of resort as really chilled on the morning. Excellent choice in the evening buffet as well. Would highly recommend this hotel anything you wanted you only had to ask and they would sort it we would definitely go back. The standard and attitude of all the staff were fantastic everyone had a smile and always said hello we had the most amazing holiday thanks to everyone.Carl and Karen…
The El Greco hotel in Fira was perfect for our first trip away since the end of the pandemic. We were delighted with the location, just a few minutes walk into Fira. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of very well. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and spacious, quite near to the pool. Unfortunately, there were quite a few mosquitos and midges in the room which resulted in me being bitten quite a bit. I was given a plug-in at reception which helped a bit. The breakfast buffet had something for all tastes. The food was tasty and plentiful. There is a choice of pools to use with comfortable sun loungers but, people do put towels on the beds very early so you are not guaranteed to get one all day. All in all, i would recommend this hotel
Location is just a 10 minute easy walk to Fira and about 15 minutes in the other direction to a smaller village with some restaurants. There is a bus stop both in Fira and in this village. There is also a brew pub nearby. Resort is very clean and staff are friendly. It is family friendly. Breakfast was good but can get crowded…there are actually two breakfast restaurants so try the quieter one in the back of the resort if you want fewer crowds. Sun beds were taken by breakfast with towels being placed as early as 7 am. The WiFi is awful and even after they came into our room and fixed the router, it was still weak. Without that fix it was so spotty that it was worthless. There are many large groups here and fortunately there are numerous pools so you can explore to find one to meet your needs, The larger room is worth the upgrade…we had lots of room as a couple along with a private balcony overlooking the pool. We recommend a second level to enjoy the balcony instead of a patio right by the pool. The second floor also offered a large back deck which was a bonus sunny area. You can arrange many tours from the resort and the front desk is knowledgeable.…
This actually quite large hotel runs like clockwork. It's fantastically clean and the rooms are wonderfully spacious, each with their own mini terrace area. The architecture isn't overwhelming, but, in typically Greek style, creates intimacy and arched through-views by replicating small scale buildings, rather than building up. There's an all day bar with snacks, a restaurant (though you're better off eating out - try booking a cab to Metaxi Mas 10 minutes away) and a wonderful selection of 7 pools. Located directly opposite the caldera, the location is just a few hundred yards from Fira - a perfect distance. A perfect place to laze. Great service from front desk - and throughout the hotel actually. A special mention for the lovely Anna on the Concierge desk - couldn't have been more helpful!…
