Read me before booking On The Cliff Suites. Beware. The restaurant/bar above the rooms stay open late with music bumping. It is currently 1:30am Saturday and I am awake due to the music with heavy beats happening. If you are coming to Santorini and want a quite experience while in your room this hotel is not for you. I arrived on a Wednesday and have only just had this problem when it became Friday night. Each day I would also hear the chairs in the restaurant move across the floor. I booked the Deluxe Suite with Caldera View and Private Jacuzzi. Which the rooms are directly below the restaurant/bar. The room I received is Room 1 which the balcony shares an entrance to where the workers come in and out of for different tasks. There is no privacy at all so take that into consideration when booking this hotel. The entrance to all rooms for this floor is through the balcony area so you also have other guests walking past you to get to their rooms. The walkway is between your table area and your jacuzzi area for both Room 1 and Room 2 leaving Room 3 on the end with a little more privacy from other guests. Room is nice, simple with amazing views of the caldera from your jacuzzi or balcony table area. The music is loud enough that I can hear the words of the song. If you are a light sleeper you have been warned. There is not a typical reception desk at this hotel. Before our trip the hotel arranged a private transfer from the airport. I would not book this hotel again if the nights staying fell on a weekend. I would only book again during week days if I could be guaranteed Room 3. The bar music played every night not just the weekends. It is now 2:40am and the music is still as loud as it started. Would not stay here again on a weekend. 3:30am the bar music is still ongoing. There is not a reception desk to raise any concern or complaint regarding this issue as they run the hotel from said bar. I have attempted to call many times and get no answer. I have sent many emails with no answer. Sleep is still not a thing for me yet. 4am and music is still ongoing. I’m sure you are reading this thinking there is no way. I assure you I have not yet been to sleep due to the loud beat hitting dance party music occurring above me in the bar. No ability to reach hotel by phone or email. 4:30am and music is still ongoing. Appears they might have left and left the music blaring. From outside looking up no one can be seen. Walked upstairs to the window into the bar and no one was seen. I did not enter the bar restaurant area as to not be entering after hours could not see anyone through the windows. 5:15am someone must have arrived on staff for their shift as the bar music was turned off. Saturday 12:36pm, Received a reply to my emails from the hotel stating “The noise is coming from the nighclub in the main street. As the hotel is located in the heart of Fira city center, on Saturdays and Fridays the clubs and bars play louder music. The apologize for loosing your sleep last night.” Hotel staff left the bar music on when they left work. The hotel doesn’t take responsibility for the music. I walked up there at 4:30am to their bar and know for a fact the music was coming from their speaker system, I heard it with my own ears. Mistakes happen but not taking responsibility for the matter and attempting to blame it on the nightlife in the Main Street is not conducive with hospitality and providing the best customer service as they can. Now onto my review that is not around the Friday night into Saturday morning music. The staff was very attentive and always assisted with arranging things we wanted to do or booking a table for food. Always made recommendations and happy to help with what we might need. We received new hot tub towels any night that we left them on our balcony. And the balcony areas were kept straightened up so the next morning it always looked as fresh as it was when we arrived and lounge chairs placed back in their spaces.…
Stayed in On the Cliff for three nights in June 2022 with my family which included two kids. Booked their Deluxe family room with private Jacuzzi and caldera view in anticipation of a great family stay there with great views. However, this hotel was the only disappointing experience of my entire 12 days Greece vacation! Location - This was the best part of the hotel. Certainly right at the center of everything - walkable to the main road (with stairs, of course), Fira centre, bus station, taxi stations, pubs and cafes etc. Offers great views of the Aegen sea and lots of restaurants and bars like Argo, Two Brothers etc. at a walking distance . Property - The property in itself is good with small, decent private jacuzzis and huge spaces. Has good huge patios to enjoy the sunset views from your room. We stayed in their largest room categories - Deluxe family suite with private jacuzzi. While the place was huge but really needs lots of attention and upgrading. Understand that it is a cave room category, but seems nothing has been changed or updated in the room for ages. On top of that, amenities provided are poor standard - bad, cheap toiletries, poor quality cutleries and glasses in the room, super old and small namesake safe box, poor and super old locks system in the room. The bathrooms were nice though and seems had an upgrade recently. To summarize the room feedback - potential to offer so much more warmth and character to these rooms ! just the intention seems to be missing by the management. Service - Really poor service for a hotel which charges a bomb for the hotel stays ! Severely understaffed and under trained - most of them did not know English which should be ok for a budget hotel but not for this place especially they had such limited staff. The lady at the restaurant - didn't get her name (wasn't Sophia) - she always had a cold face which you don't expect every morning at breakfast. Breakfast was exactly the same on all three days served by a single guy trying to maintain all guests in the restaurant as well. Being hotel guests, we felt unwelcomed there and needed to ask for everything. Very cold, straight faced people standing at the bar doing the minimum that needs to be done - serve us breakfast ! Again, the views are amazing from the restaurant though. They did provide luggage assistance in picking up from the main road or a drop of luggage to the main road which otherwise could be such a pain but again its like providing what you have discussed and if you feel that if you are stuck in any problem or if the luggage guy wouldnt be around- you might be left on your own ! Then for the pick up and drop - was quoted an exaggerated rate by the lady (supposedly the service desk) and then had to show her emails on the rate previously agreed ! Though cancelled the return transport arrangement completely with them since there were much cheaper options outside ! Over all - Felt like a tourist trap for people wanting to stay in Fira with a good view. Has potential to turn into a fantastic place because of the property, location and views but certainly needs a revamp - of the rooms, staff, service and most important - intentions !…
Very long wait for food! Greeks don't like being questioned! When asked why our food was taking so long, they made sure the delay was prolonged ...other after us got their food before us! When the food eventually came, it was miniscule portions! We ate, paid and left to go eat elsewhere! The wine choice is also quite poor!
I cannot add a review for the hotel as we only used the cafe/bar but, On the Cliff in Fira is perfectly placed amongst the shops and bars, right where you want to be, and overlooking the caldera and sunsets. This was our second visit and each time we were very happy with the service from all the friendly, efficient staff. There is a good atmosphere at the bar which stays open quite late.
In my opinion, awful customer care and communication. My girlfriend and I had a 5 day trip booked for several months. My girlfriend is in her final year of medical school and missed her last exam due to COVID-19, which was rescheduled for the middle of our stay. We unfortunately had to mover or cancel our trip as a result. We contacted the property over a month in advance to try and rearrange our holiday or request some form of refund. They refused to do either. We booked through booking.com who were very helpful in contacting the property as well to try and negotiate on our behalf. Our insurance did not cover 'education' so claiming on insurance wasn't an option unfortunately. We were left with the only option but to keep our booking and try and sell to friends or family. We had two friends who were going to go on our behalf on the second day of our trip. However, on the Cliff Suites cancelled our booking and denied us this opportunity refunding us £6 from a total of £820 bill for the accommodation. They are now not replying to emails or calls. To me, they were entirely unreasonable and obstructive to helping our situation. We were willing to postpone our trip by over a year but were told we couldn't do that. They showed a complete lack of regard for customer welfare and denied us the opportunity to get part of our money back from our holiday by selling to friends/family, when they cancelled our trip on the first day of the booking. We will be going to Santorini next year instead, as other places we had booked allowed us to mover our dates. We will not be returning here.…
Stay here for a couple of days. The view is spectacular. The service was good. I would highly recommend this hotel. I came as a tourist and left feeling like a friend. The staff were kind and helpful. My room was comfortable. My stay was very tranquil and peaceful.
Overall this was a really nice place to spend for the money. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the staff is more than willing to help with anything. The hot tub is a nice amenity but it wasn’t steaming hot. The communication that there were 3 people staying here instead of 2 was not clear between the staff so there wasn’t any blankets or sheets for the 2nd bed. The staff member was very apologetic and made it right and went up to get the sheets in the night and made the bed for us. The view is beautiful too! Alex was working in the restaurant and was more than happy to make us anything we wanted to eat or drink and was very kind. Matthew is the manager and was also very personable and nice.
This place made our visit to Santorini even more Authentic and Magnificent than we expected. The Proprietors Sophia, Nicholas and guest manager Kareem were warm, genuine, diligent, knowledgeable and attentive. The entire experience exceeded our expectations. Our room was in the new building of the Hotel with panoramic views of the Caldera/Volcano. The nighttime views were awe inspiring! Everything was new, the design and decor were island elegant. Our Cave had its own private/semi-private jacuzzi and lounging bed (partially visible only to the few caves in close proximity to ours). The island itself was an eye opening experience as we went mid-November (non-peak season) so just witnessing the islanders and the hotel hosts in their element was humbling and inspiring. So many analog and manual processes of daily lives. The food in the restaurant and rooms service was hot and fresh every time. The breakfast was "the freshest that I have had in a very long while" is what I posted to Facebook and I am a chef lol. Nicholas at the bar was knowledgeable of all the local ales and spirits and great to converse with. Sophia, kept the Sweet Tea topped off and served us the most amazingly unexpected breakfast (for it to be included in the price of the room) plates with the freshest foods, fruits and breads just kept come to the table. Kareem and the house keep were above what anyone could possibly expect. The hotel is literally on the cliff so there are paths and staircases to reach the hotel. Kareem accompanied us to our room insisting to carry our cases. The house keep was pleasant and our room was immaculately clean when she finished. When they brought our food for room service the house keep noticed that my daughter had been asleep on the patio lounge bed for awhile (still resting from her nightlife in Athens the night before lol) the house keep (and I hate that I do not recall her name) actually stopped to rub my daughters back. This is not service at this point this is Humanity :) I am planning another trip for a milestone birthday with friends and On the Cliff is the place I choose lay our heads while in Santorini. You should definitely do the same!…
I have to say I was a little apprehensive when I booked to stay here due to the negative reviews I’d read but we couldn’t rate this hotel more! It ticked all the boxes from the minute we arrived - the service was brilliant, the facilities were beyond anything we’d experienced before and the views were breathtaking. We were taken back by the amount of food provided at breakfast. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location is ideal too. Couldn’t recommend more! I don’t normally write reviews on hotels but this one was really outstanding! Don’t let the negative comments put you off - it’s not to be missed!
Ordered a wrap with tuna, cucumber and onion, which took 45 minutes to come. This wrap then came with cabbage which I do not like and was not on the menu, we sent it back and explained but the staff were rude and unhelpful, no other wrap was made and we were forced to pay €8.50 for a wrap that was not eaten at all. Rude staff and bad service, avoid at all costs.
