Don't judge a book by its cover, doesn't look much from the curb side. Roadside restaurant, outside eating area and cosy slightly quirky interior. Parking on roadside was easy. Friendly helpful staff, large menu, all freshly cooked and certainly good value for money. I had the duck, cooked superbly to medium rare, large portion but I wasn't going to leave any it was delicious. Others enjoyed steak although one was a bit gristly but flavoursome Excellent house wine and good coffee. Good and hot, not a fan of lukewarm drinks. Ate previously in the summer, outside. Menu du jour. good quality good value for money. Not distracted by passing traffic.
We went here as a couple and also with friends, as we knew they'd enjoy the food. A nice restaurant with friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend this restaurant either for lunch or dinner
Stopped overnight whilst cycling across France via Canal de Deux Mers. Sadly it was Sunday so we were not able to eat at Relais Bleu, but our reception on arrival, rooms and breakfast were excellent and such good value. Look forward to staying again.
A charming place to have a lazy lunch, served by Katia and sometimes, Dominique! Just off the main road but totally shielded. Wide choice on menu and we certainly never come away hungry! very good value for money.
We had a meal last October 2015, really enjoyed it so when we returned to Capestang, we returned to Le Relais. It was so enjoyable that we ate there three times during the week. It is good rustic food, at a reasonable price. Monday to Thursday they offer a set menu for 13euros 4 courses and wine - a real bargain. Other evenings still good value and much busier at the weekend. First appearances can be deceptive! Look beyond the 'transport cafe' exterior and immediate tables inside and venture further where there are comfortable tables in a relaxing atmosphere. The host was lovely and the children made welcome. Some of my friends had snails, cod and the dishes of the day were great as were the plentiful cheese plates and the wine was very reasonable.
We went here twice during our one week stay in Capestang, so it shows that we enjoyed it! On both occasions we ate from the set menu - it was really good value for money, (included wine), and the food was great. The service is very friendly; the waitress was chatty and friendly, and enjoyed a joke! We had two children with us, and they were well catered for. This is not a gourmet restaurant, but is well worth a visit for a very reasonably priced meal, in nice surroundings and with very good service.
We a have eaten at Le Relais a number of times. It is not fancy. The interior dining room very nice; the service is excellent and the food is good. That says it all! We like the fact that we can get something to eat at almost any time of day.
Service was great, they made an exception to my diet and I bet you can't finish the plate of food they bring! Known for being a truck stop with good simply foods, if you are very hungry, this is your restaurant.
The outside is scruffy but the inside dining room is exactly like they used to be 40 years ago. I am sure it is full with locals on a Saturday night. The food is also like that. We skipped the 12 euro menu du jour and had the four course menu for 20 euros. Goats cheese salad, lamb chops/ fillets of red mullet, cheese and ice cream. We asked for no chips, having seen the portions. One beer, 1/4 litre of rose, one glass of red with the ( rather basic) cheese, plus one coffee, came to 46 euros for two. The patron was very friendly and gave us water for the dog and some leaflets on the canal du midi. All the other customers were regulars. No, it's not fine dining, but it is incredibly relaxing and incredibly French.
We stayed here on a cycling trip recently and it was, like most of the other places, a welcome stay. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly. My only complaint was that the room was a little small and, due to the sounds outside, a little noisy. Dogs barked, bells chimed, cocks crowed. But it was very good value and I would come here again.
