We are a family run Bed & Breakfast where we aim to provide you with everything that you could need for a peaceful stress free holiday. Situated in the undiscovered Auvergne Region of Central France, La Fromental is a restored Cantal farmhouse built in about 1850, set in seven acres of sylvan scenery with views of the Puy de Sancy, the highest peak of the Massif Central. We offer bed and breakfast or "chambres d'hôtes" on a daily basis and evening meals can be provided if requested for an extra charge. We have four rooms all with private bathrooms and double beds; one room is a family suite with a separate room with two single beds for children.

Very pretty quiet area, close to the areas we wanted to visit in Cantal and Auvergne. Excellent hosts and very, very good food if you decide to opt for an evening meal, almost worth staying just for the food and company!

La Fromental is absolutely delightful! After a busy holiday, we were able to relax in the comfort of a family home-type B&B. Breakfast was excellent, with a home-made pastry each day (lovely muffins!). Optional evening meal at €22 per person for aperitif, 3 courses, cheese and wine was incredible value and, again, all home-cooked. We had the family suite, which was a very good size with comfortable beds, and they didn't mind us bring a baby along to dinner. Amelia and Aaron, who run the guest house, were very helpful as we explored the area, making some good recommendations of what to see. This felt like spending 4 days living in an English "French" family, as we learnt about their region, life in France, and met their two boys, cats, duck and chickens, who kept us entertained. Although English, they also speak fluent French.

This is a very comfortable place to stay. Amelia is very helpful and does a nice breakfast. The room we stayed in was very clean and spacious with a good bathroom en suite. Highly recommended and incredible value for the price.

We have just returned from a tour of France and spent 4 nights here with our friends after visiting the Carmargue, to say there is a different pace is an understatement. This is a place to seriously unwind, with very clear dark nights and barely a neighbour in sight. Amelias cooking was wonderful and the cheese was immense!! we were introduced to Truffade which is a local potato dish although that description definitely does not do it justice. Arran and Amelia were perfect attentive hosts and their two boys were a delight. During a 3 week tour the food here was by far the best. So if you want a very traditional Chambre d'hôte experience (eating round a big table with the family) all be it with an English flavour, then look no further.

We have been at Fromental B&B for about one week with our three kids. It is a very lovely place to relax in rural area - with great nature, good lakes for fishing and swimming and nice hiking and biking tracks in close vicinity . There is an excellent atmosphere of hospitality at La Fromental. The host family, Amelie, her husband and two kids, have spent all efforts to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The rooms and other guest facilities are clean and well maintained. The common guest room for dining and breakfast is separate from the host family’s rooms and therefore allow privacy for both parties. Very suitalbe place for kids! Amelie is a great cook and has prepared great dinners and good breakfast.. We truly enjoyed the 5-course meals, each of it it was a fantastic creation of French and/or British kitchen. Do not go out for dinner in a restaurant in a near village, better to stay for dinner at B&B! As a bottom line, we all had a wonderful vacation at La Frommental and we would come back again!
