Tulia is certainly world class. We had a beautiful waterfront villa----literally, the water was only about 7 steps from our veranda. The villa was spacious with everything you could possibly need there. The meals were amazing----Gourmet Traveller magazine would be thrilled to feature them. The presentation and ingredients would be right at home at a Michelin restaurant---in fact better than some we've been to. The resort has it's own farm and bee hives and most of the ingredients are locally sourced---we had fish [cobia] which we love and have not seen elsewhere on the island. The staff must be hand picked for their wonderful attitudes and friendly natures. We only wished that we had been able to stay for more than the three nights.

We are just back home after 4 days in Tulia for our honeymoon, and everything I can say is how wonderful this place is.
I booked online via Booking, and they immediately contacted me to ask me more details about us to make our honeymoon perfect. And it was more than perfect.
From check in to check out the experience was beyond our expectations.
The hotel is beautiful and peaceful. It has 16 rooms so feels really private and quiet. It’s the perfect place to relax. Most of the time it was just us two in the pool bar, having amazing cocktails while contemplating the sea.
They have so many sun beds, chairs and sofas that you can choose where you want to sit and you won’t have anyone near.
We stayed in a garden villa and it was just beautiful, really clean and the fact that they prepare the bed and room for you while you’re having dinner is perfect.
I truly recommend go all inclusive. The drinks are fantastic and the food is just a dream. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in “a la carta” basis, which different starters, mains and desserts to choose from. Everything is fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. The best food we had in our trip. We decided to have our breakfast in our garden the last day and probably the best breakfast I will have in a long long time!!
As it was our honeymoon they had some gestures with us, including a massage in their beautiful spa. It was so so good, but last day they left us speechless preparing us a private romantic dinner. Honestly the most beautiful place I had the pleasure to dine in. Absolutely amazing. Our waiter Gideon made the experience even more perfect, always attentive to every single detail.

The staff is unbelievable. They are the cherry on the pie, making this experience, because this is not only a hotel, is an experience, even more special. They are always smiling and making conversation.

About the price, yes, it is expensive but is it worth it? Absolutely. It is worth every single cent you are going to pay.

Worth mentioning that there was a misunderstanding due to some miss communication when we got the bill, and Veronica was so professional and understanding that I have to say thank you. Thank you for treating us the way you did, and for resolving the issue with such kindness and efficiency. If there’s a definition of amazing customer service, that was it.
Thank you Veronica and thanks to all the staff.
We will be back :)

Pongwe Beach is mind blowing in every way: dotted with palm trees, hammocks and sun loungers, this small Paradise on a secluded stretch of white-powdery beach will amaze you with its stunning sunsets and views. But its beaches are not the only beautiful landscape you will see here. If you want to enjoy the essence of its nature, Tulia Zanzibar offers a great experience. With a friendly and committed staff that will make you feel the warmest welcoming, you can definitely relax and simply enjoy.

The culinary concept of Chef Mgeni Mzima and his team pays particular attention to fresh, good quality products and ingredients.

Some of the complementary services Tulia Zanzibar include in their rate are the beautiful pool, a one hour massage for each person and Yoga classes. If you want to enjoy nature, the hotel provides you with free Snorkeling equipment, Paddleboards, Windsurf, Bicycles and Kayaks. For those looking for a relaxing space, Tulia Spa creates the perfect place to take a rest and to find inner peace and calm

Tulia Zanzibar is one of a kind and certainly can’t wait to come back here again in the near future.

A holiday in ZNZ might be fantastic also in a beach tent but to stay in one of the most beautiful properties on the island surely makes it unique and unforgettable. We just come back from a 4 nights stay at Tulia and from the early contacts with Petra and her colleague at the booking desk to the last bye to the all staff after an after lunch late check-out, the all experience was one of the best ever had in the south seas. It was my birthday and our wedding anniversary and I can't really say how impressed we were with all those special little things that made us really felling loved and extremely well looked after since morning to night. Beyond this, the property is gorgeous, perhaps the best exotic garden in Zanzibar, with only a bunch of luxury villas and a marvelous pool facing the ocean on top of the most beautiful white talco beach close to Pongwe. At dinner, every night there was a show: Masai dance, live-cooking, live music from a local band, BBQ in the garden, etc... Part of the all inclusive package you get top notch spirits and premium wines and, thanks to chef Mzima, the best food ever, from breakfast to dinner. A separate pool with slides gave as plenty of fun while we also used their paddle boards and kayaks. We didn't have time to use bikes nor to attend their daily yoga classes (which are unlimited as part of the package) but we enjoyed indeed a 1 hour long massage that was really professional (brava Mary and colleague) and daily cruises by the reef with their own dhow boat. In the property there is a beautiful gift shop as well and you could also organize a day trip to Serengeti with a private plane. Overall, really a 6 stars experience from people you clearly see are keen to impress their clients after the hard work they made in making that real. Last thing worth noting, a very efficient help in setting the PCR tests directly in your room (2 minutes job). Thank you to all of you once again hoping to see you again in the near future. BRAVI !!!

We have spent 8 days with friends in this amazing place. We really enjoyed the location, food, drinks, happy staff and complimentary yoga, massage and paddle board-kayak. The cuisine is Michelin star (five course a la carte lunch and dinner every single day) and drinks are premium. Quoting the Chef ‘everything is possible, just ask us’.

Unique hotel, management and hospitality! There is no other place like Tulia!!!

Last but not least, special thanks to our tour agent Elite Travel International, Sofia.

After much research and debate, we selected Tulia as one of the destinations for our honeymoon in September 2021 and could not have been happier with our decision. Right from the first moment, everything about our stay there was first class. The hotel was responsive to our questions and organised an airport transfer who was waiting for us when we landed. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and our villa (we went for one of the waterfront options directly facing the sea) was breathtaking. It is a perfect destination for a romantic couple's trip, especially if you are travelling for a special occasion. The space is huge, and the private terrace area facing the ocean is spectacular. What really sets Tulia apart in my view (and I saw this referenced in other reviews) was the staff. They have a real army of attentive, high energy and high positivity people in the family who just make you feel so welcome and well looked after. The meals were excellent (our choice was all-inclusive and this is a real AI deal - only the cigars by the bar cost extra if you want one!) The dinner and lunch menus change on a daily basis and there's enough variety with breakfast to keep you interested. The hotel also does a great job of providing entertainment in the evenings during dinner service. They have a modern and well equipped gym on site and offer various excursion options at an extra cost if you so wish. We just loved our time here and it was over far too quickly. A big thank you to the entire team for making our honeymoon experience so incredible.

we had an amazing experience in the Tulia resort. we made the booked the place directly through the hotel and from the very first moment Petra was amazing, answered every question with patient and welcoming vibe. we stayed for 4 nights and the room, hotel. pool, food was more then we could dream about! the feeling was that the staff really care about us and making everything to make sure we have the best time. we enjoyed daily yoga practice with lovely Veronica and just had the best holiday (for our honeymoon!). the best thing is that is maybe one of the only all inclusive hotel that is really *all* inclusive! they have great food, amazing cocktails and you know that once you decide to spend this money it will be well worth it and you will enjoy so much!! I really don't have nothing bad to say because it was really just perfect time! even with a little bit of rain because the resort is so perfect it was still all good. i really highly recommend it, worth it soooo much!

In love with this resort…the property is well designed…consisting of only 16 Villas..so the staff can focus on the guest being happy 😃

The villa I booked was the top category “ SeaFront Luxury Villa “ it was beautiful…facing the ocean…waling up to the breathtaking sunrise ( no sunset at this part of the island ) .

The villas is super spacious…it has a shower 🚿 & a bathtub 🛁

The privacy is impeccable 👍🏻

The resort is so calm & cosy…if u decided to stay here you won’t regret it…you’ll feel the warm welcoming from everyone the staff & the guest themselves. 🥰

This resort is best for couples & honeymoon & anniversary…or someone need to getaway for a relaxing vacation…Tulia Zanzibar is a sanctuary for me.

The Staff…oh my god…everyone was so vibrant & energetic…very helpful…it was part from the whole experience…it feels effortless.

They are very polite, understanding, friendly, always smiling… initiative :

Let me mention some of the most amazing staff I met there :

1. Dorka…she was the real deal…showed me the place, gave me a tour , I learned more about the property’s history..the owners & the investors….it gave a whole Idea 💡 about the Tulia Resort.

She knows how to deal with the guests, knows how to solve obstacles, always providing us with alternative…giving us the best experience at the resort…she is the gem of Tulia…big thanks to you Dorka & it was really a pleasure.

2. Veronica…. She brought joy and happiness to this resort… with a smile always on her face she made us feel welcomed…making sure we are all happy & enjoying our experience at the Resort…checking on everyone & making special requests for the couples. Thank you Veronica it was a pleasure meeting such a vibrant person like you.

Big thanks to Rajabu, Enock , Petra & Hajii

My wife and I were spent the last few days in Tulia and really had a great time. This place is incredible and the hotel stuff made us feel like a family. The food was amazing, we felt like we ate in a gourmet restaurant all day long! Most ingredients camed from the hotel's organic farm so everything was super fresh.
We took the front beach room and it was well equipped, super clean with large balcony equipped with few sofas and hammock. Also, the hotel offers an incredible complimentary massage for each guest and free private yoga lessons.
We travelled a lot and we can definitely say that this hotel was the best luxury hotel so far, we had a great experience!
Thank you so much Tulia!

We came to this hotel after going on a safari in Kenya to relax, and this resort met our expectations. We arrived very late on the first night and the hotel had arranged some food in our rooms which was very unexpected and thoughtful. All the staff are amazing, very friendly and supportive. The attention to detail for guest experience - such as beach’s hats and a beach bag, insect repellent among other things - was a very lovely touch.
The only suggestions we would give for improvement are for more privacy around the shower area in the rooms (since it’s not only couples that would be sharing), a vegetarian option to be available on the menu, although the chef did prepare a vegetarian meal for us on request. Another suggestion is the availability of local snacks and dishes.
Overall it was a great experience and we had a lovely time!

Hello, Thank you for your message. East of Zanzibar is typical of significant low tide and high tide. You can enjoy swimming during high tide, which is twice a day and lovely walks during low tide, also twice a day. There is no other place like Zanzibar in terms of ocean movement and guests really enjoy advantage of each changeover. This is happening throughout the whole year, regardless the period. Kind regards Veronika

Hello Brittany, Of course you are able to walk barefoot and enjoy the white sandy beach during lovely walks. Our guests really enjoy walking towards to the coral rief and explore sea world during low tide, completely without shoes. Just in case you need shoes for your better comfort, we provide them at the reception. Kind regards Veronika

In all of the photos I don’t see anyone swimming in the ocean. Are people not allowed to swim?
Answer from TuliaManager
Pongwe, Tanzania14 contributions
Hello, surely it is allowed to swim in the ocean. It is a safe and beautiful experience. There is a big barrier coral reef about 2 km off the coast which is protecting the island from the wild ocean. So the ocean is like a lagoon, calm and warm. Actually, we never thought about taking pictures of the swimmers, but we do something about it :) Lukas
