I have to say that me and my boyfrienf were really happy with this hotel the staff is really nice especially Aston our personal favorite and the boss lady , the food is great and the hotel itself is a bomb a swimming pool great beach and a lot to do there are people for everything trips , spa , bar , and restaurant pure relax and great ambiance there is a show every other day Highly reccomend
We scheduled our stay at the last minute because Nungwi was super busy and there was no way to social distance there especially in our hot and dreary hotel that allowed smoking everywhere. And we got lucky and found a junior suite at Pongwe Bay for 6 nights. When we arrived there was screening for Covid—a first—and most of the staff were wearing masks. Cigarette smoke was probibited in the common area/restaurant and we were so grateful. The grounds are big and spacious and it makes it easy to maintain social distance. But the best things were the wonderful staff, our beautiful and comfortable airconditioned beachfront room, the spacious swimming pool, and the restaurant. We were offered full board for $25 extra per day and we shared it so our food costs were just $12.50 per day and we had plenty to eat. Most nights local acts performed during dinner—so fun. We did a lot of swimming and walking on the beach, and went snorkeling at Pongwe Reef which turned out to be very rewarding. A real gem, and the price is right.…
I write this review with pleasure but also with nostalgia. With pleasure because we had a wonderful vacation in a resort where the kindness to the guests and the perfect cleanliness are put in the foreground. With nostalgia because I will always remember with pleasure the days spent in Pongwe Bay Resort. In conclusion, it is a holiday destination that I will recommend to everyone. Stefan
Very nice hotel. big rooms with air conditioning which is not a standard in Zanzibar. Lovely restaurant with chill out zone. Very nice owner and helpfull stuff. You will get help with the luggage which is also not a standard in Zanzibar. We stayed here in January 21 with 2 kids and had 2 connected rooms.
Great hotel with red carpet service! Loved the place because of: - the great MANAGER and TEAM: Italian owned and managed hotel, with manager being all the time around and happy to make your stay unforgettable! We (3 persons) were the only guests for 3 overnights and we felt like being very important persons. They carried for us, arranged the best accommodation, diner at the terrace, fishing with locals, Masai show..... RESPECT! - the DESIGN of the HOTEL and the beauty of the BEACH: its Zanzibari style with white chalets and palm tree roofs surrounded by lush tropical garden with private tropical beach were a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the island nature and relax. The VILLA/bungalow they accommodated us overlooked the palm beach and the ocean. The second floor suite was very comfortable and again with great (Italian) design. It had a huge terrace with sofa and comfortable chairs overlooking the ocean. The BEACH was really beautiful with huge low tide. You may walk 500 m inside the ocean, or even more. It was not possible to swim but it was a great experience to see the going and coming ocean. - the FOOD: the best tuna tataki you may taste! We had a la carte service with big choice of sea food, beef, pasta, vegetarian meals, chicken, etc. Everything was very very tasty and freshly prepared. The bar offered good choice of South African wines, other spirits and drinks. - the Masai evening: it was quite a surprise for us, being the only guests, that the Manager decided to organise Masai evening with singing and dancing and surprise us. It was great fun and experience! It was unforgettable stay!…
