The pearl guesthouse is a cheap but very simple accomodation. The washroom is old the shower bad and the mosquito nets are damaged and not usable. The hostel is located central and it is easy to find.

Spent my last night in Zanzibar at this place. Basic, Spartan and austere. Washroom down the hall. Room has some of that "Old world charm" - handmade wooden window frame with window slats. Could have been in a different century. Bed was large enough, but the mattress is a different story. Squeaky springs. I'm sure the people below must have...

We enjoyed our staying in this hotel. The manager of the hotel was very helpful with us. The hotel was clean. The breakfast was ok. It's good for a couple of days. Location is good. The size of the room was ok and had a balcony too.

Adequate continental breakfast, (the 'waiter' could do with more training in fruit freshness), gorgeous room (#8), terrific location. The water pump played up so the plumber was called and made to stay until he'd fixed it, similarly with our toilet cistern that chose that day to go on strike! Considering that Stone Town is what so so old, you must...

We stayed here, twice- each time we were welcomed with enthusiasm and panache. Salim is an amazing man- his life stories are fascinating, he is hilarious and a fun person and he copes with incessantly demanding guests. Every guest is honoured and treated well. Continental breakfasts were humunguous and fantastical. I have never eaten donuts for breakfast- but I found...

We loved our carved bed and delightfully arranged mosquito-netting in the high-ceilinged, spacious room with fan and air-conditioning and private bath and balcony. Salim made the stay extra special by providing excellent advice about where to eat, which spice tour to take and how to spend our days. He was so gracious that we felt like the Pearl was our...

Is this a four star hotel, no but Mr. Salim more than makes up for it. Yes, I didn't have water pressure for my shower but I'd stay here again in a second. In fact, I would come back to Zanzibar just to stay here. Mr. Salim was just so helpful! He gave me a map, guidelines for my own...
