The Izaak Walton is a beautiful hotel in a clean and beautiful town. If you going through Embu to Mt. Kenya for a hike up the 2nd tallest mountain in Africa, I would advise you stay at this hotel. I loved the gardens and the food is well cooked. They also have a nice sized swimming pool and bar area...

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Meru. They were extremely busy due to a major event however, we received very good service from the young lady waiting our table. Two of us had sandwiches - country club and chicken; the third member enjoyed his chicken and chips. We enjoyed it enough that we returned three days later...

Most beautiful garden and very relaxed atmosphere. One can feel the English history of the hotel. We spend one night in their standard rooms which was basic but very clean with TV and working wifi (although not very strong signal). The breakfast was great! Very friendly staff. Will definitely go back if in the area again.

This hotel has been operating for ages and yet it still maintains the beauty and class. I love their breakfast, its always fresh and the waiters are very pleasant. Their newly renovated rooms are good and the most part of this place is their garden. Its cool and a place you just want to sit and enjoy your morning or...

The place used to be an icon in Eastern province, it's now a dirty, poorly managed skeleton hotel. I spend new year eve in a dirty stinky room and paid ksh 10000 for it. The management should be ashamed of the sorry state of this hotel. I will never go back to such poorly managed hotel. On the brighter side,...

As is our family tradition,we drop by Izaak for lunch when driving to Meru. In December,we passed by and the kind of treatment we got from the hotel staff put us off...we sat outside to relax and wait for the staff to come to our table take the order. After waiting for some time i decided to approach a lady...

It started from getting the entrance:they need a visible sign for visitors The receptionist are the most confused ,Rude people ever. The room booked for wasn't the one we were initially given and if it were not for us querying then they would have let us sleep in a room we hadn't paid for. The room we were later given...

Googled the hotel and decided to spend a night there with my family after a function in Embu town. From the online photos, we were looking forward to a fulfilling night but apart from the gardens which were somewhat appealing, everything else was an exact opposite of whatever is posted online. The room looked medieval, stuffy with stained ceiling, loose...

We spent two nights in the newly refurbished standard rooms and at first i was worried about the possibility of noise being so close to the outdoor gardens which also serve as an outdoor dining area; It was peaceful and quite serene. Loved the room ambiance, must have been the mustard wall colour. The African food was amazing especially the...

It's unlikely that I posts reviews but this one I had to.. because my experience today being 1st Dec 2016, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! We waited at the reception for awhile before they could confirm our rooms, eventually No. 14 and No. 15 they were. This was the first time to spend here.. so we were...
