We arrived in Chake-Chake at around 10am, and decided to jump on a local bus up to Konde so that we could get to Verani beach hotel. We'd done very little research on Pemba and were told that this was the cheapest place to stay up in the Northwest. We were warned that it was very basic! I won't lie...

Please do not be misled by the early reviews which rate this as fantastic and the ones that consider this a 'fantastic' place must have really very poor expectations, even out of a basic campsite. Sadly, by December 2012, things must have changed drastically in this place. While reading this, keep in mind that THIS IS NOT A HOTEL but...

OK, Verani Beach gives you few mod cons, but it is still a fantastic place. This was our third visit, and we must confess some bias, as the owner and his staff have become more friends than anything else. But we really belive in the qualities of this place, and it can be wonderful - if your expectaions are right....

The one star is for the situation by a beautiful beach. We arrived at Verani Beach Hotel as it was getting dark and therefore had no option but to stay the night. It was very poor value for extremely basic accommodation. We left the next morning although we had planned to stay for five nights.

We planed to spend seven nights in Verani Beach hotel, which was refered on this website as heaven place - for reasonable price. Instaed we spent one night in what is called traveler´s nightmare. In fact we were strongly warned by taxi driver on our way from the sea port. I must agree with two recent reviews in every each...

I visited this place 12 months ago, and paid in advance for full board. There was no running water as the supply that feeds the rooms was not working. The boys working there topped up my shower tank with water that I later found was from an open tank of standing water used to feed the cattle in the adjacent...

Booked this place through email in advance through the manager/owner Makame. but just one week before we were about to leave received an email stating that they had not recieved the deposit, which was never asked in the first place. Deposit payed, we were welcomed by a friendly taxi driver at the Pemba airport. But on arrival it was clear...

We stayed at Verani Beach hotel for a week with our two kids aged 8 and 9, after a safari in mainland Tanzania. We had organized everything ourselves directly with the owner, Makame, who was good at answering quickly and whom you can reach by sms and phone beforehand. As arranged beforehand, a taxi driver was waiting for us at...

If you are not set on the usual comfort but looking for a unique experience explore a stay at the Verani Beach Hotel in Pemba owned by Mr. Makame and employing the young staff, Omar, Juma and Fatumah. The way the owner deals with the shortage of water is ecological, the big water tank allowed enough water for our daily...

Verani Beach is far from what you normally would call luxury or even modern comforts - but therein lies the secret of the establishment. It is little developed and has much to offer for the traveller interested in nature, wild life, local culture tec - but also for those who just want a quiet lazy vacation on a good clean...
