We loved staying here for a week, this place is clean and very comfortable. We had an amazing breakfast every morning and the staff is really lovely. It’s perfect location and great if you’re a climber or a tourist. Thank you! Sasha and Martina Aisha and Fatima

We stayed two nights for rock climbing in the gorge. The rooms were simple, but clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and included regional specialties. The staff was super helpful, e.g. did our laundry and washed our car just because they were washing theirs. Will definitely be back.

Very helpful, good breakfasts and dinners provided and a roof terrace great for enjoying the night sky with a pot of mint tea! Fairly basic but has everything you need and it is clean and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here in early October 2016 while on a 2000+ km motorcycle tour. We didn't intend to stay here, but met some Croatian motorcyclists in a cafe in Tinghir who were staying here and we took their recommendation to stay here as well. I'm glad we did, and we ended up staying here a second day because we loved the area and hotel so much. My husband and I have been traveling around Morocco for more than 10 years, and this was one of the nicest places we've stayed in. The auberge is beautifully decorated, not overdone and not cheesy/tacky as you sometimes find in some tourist spots in Morocco. Our room looked out over the lush green gardens the villagers are tending next to the river, and there is a commanding view from the terrace of this little river valley tucked away in the folds of the mountains before the entrance to the Todra Gorges. It is not a "luxury" hotel as one finds in Marrakesh or Fez, etc., but then that is definitely not what we wanted. Instead, we had a cozy, charming, family-owned guesthouse practically to ourselves and kind hosts in a beautiful setting. We couldn't have asked for more. The two brothers who run La Belle Etoile were genuinely warm and hospitable, willing to do whatever they could to make sure we were happy, and they charged us a fair rate and advised us on where to eat to be sure that we weren't going to be overcharged. We found La Belle Etoile to be an ideal staging spot for not only exploring the twisting roads and soaring cliffs of the gorges, but also to wander the semi-abandoned kasbah on the other side of the river or trek the mountains around the valley. We met a German man arriving to the kasbah after a long hike and recommended the auberge to him as well. He ended up staying the night on our recommendation as well. We were served an enormous breakfast on the rooftop terrace in the morning and took mint tea, made with fresh mint from the garden, on the balcony overlooking the road. Also, the water here is wood-fired. This may have been the hottest shower I've ever had in Morocco. We (and the Croatians) were able to securely store our bikes in a locked garage just a few houses down overnight. The only complaint I have is that the Wi-Fi, while available, was not superb. I could check/write emails and upload photos to Instagram, but not videos (just trying to give an example of speeds). However, I had the same experience ~everywhere~ in Morocco, it is not unique to this location, that's just what's available for wifi. Otherwise, no complaints!…

I stayed four nights in January at La Belle Etoile with two friends for rock climbing in Todra gorge and this was probably the best place we stayed in during our two week trip to Morocco. It is a refreshing oasis of peace and homeliness here, with Aziz and his brother Hassan doing everything they can to make our stay as relaxed, easy and comfortable. We usually look around for different places to eat dinner each night but the food here was so good and plentiful we ate here every night (all sorts of tagines, cous cous, salads etc). The guesthouse can be found in the village of Tizgui about 1km before the gorge, directly on the left hand side of the road if you are driving to the gorge. The rooms are a good size, nicely decorated and have en suite shower and toilet. We paid a very reasonable price for the room, breakfast and dinner which was actually a better deal than some we looked at closer to the gorge entrance (and next door). Certainly good value for a better than average B+B/guesthouse. Aziz and Hassan were great hosts - always friendly and helpful, very informative (we have learned a lot about the country and the local area), happy to work around us and our times and very easygoing. Hassan speaks many languages and Aziz has good English so our terrible French was not a problem! Evenings were spent eating, drinking tea, playing Uno and chatting about their amazing country. There is a rooftop terrace with great views, a large dining room, a smaller communal area, good kitchen, hot water and decent wifi. I hope to be back here in the future to make this our climbing base again!…
