Amenities: No breakfast, no coffee, no coffee maker in room. No ice/no ice bucket. Bathroom: No towels nor washcloths. No conditioner--several tiny bottles of shampoo and one soap bar. No drinking glasses. Room had two attached hangers on hanging rod. No tissues (which would have been nice because the smell of the room makes your nose stuffy). Electrical: Few outlets. The microwave had an outlet on the back of it which had the plug to the bedside lamp plugged into it. Across the room there was one outlet but the upper part of it was tipped out of the wall. We had to plug our phone charger there, and it made the charger very hot. When we first arrived, there were only two very small lamps on each side of the king bed. Within 15 minutes one lamp went out. I unscrewed the LED bulb and it was very hot at the base. LED bulbs aren't supposed to get hot. I told the guy at the front desk that I thought something was wrong with the lamp (because of the heat

My review is truthful. Room 225 Room was very basic. Nowhere to sit except small coffee table. No coffee maker or cups. Microwave broken. Very basic breakfast. My wife and I enjoy going on road trips and when I get a receipt on check out, I write down on the back of receipt my experience and keep it for future reference if we are in that direction again. Needless to say, this hotel is not on our return list.

We have been at 2-star hotels before, but this place doesn’t deserve that definition. The room was filthy, stains everywhere on the walls, the mattress sides were yellow, I didn’t have the courage to even check the rest of the mattress. The sheets seemed clean but I doubt blankets are washed between guests. We booked a non smoking room, but this room heavily smelled like smoke. You might not be allowed to smoke in this room now, but definitely it used to be a smoking room before. I am asking a refund for imposing a whole night of toxic and cancerous smoke on my two small children. We were so grossed out by this room that we left our luggage in the car and slept in our clothes. We didn’t want any of our belongings inside that room. We woke up early and left to forget this terrible experience. I am surprised that dirty places like this are still in business. And we had to pay $98 for this horror. Please don’t stay here. This place needs to fix lots of issues and shouldn’t be offering rooms to human beings.

The hotel staff was attentive and pleasant. Unfortunately that was end of a positive review. The hotel grounds were deplorable. The lobby and buildings were old and unkempt. The room was dark because there were only two little lamps for the whole room. Of the three pillows on the bed, two were missing pillowcases. When I asked for two pillowcases for me to put on the pillows, they gave me a stained pillowcase. Gross. There was only one set of towels for two people. Again, I had to ask for towels. The sole chair in the room was broken - that chair should have never been in the room, but thrown away. The other furniture was old and scuffed up. The bed was terrible - the mattress had no form or shape: backbreaking and similar to quicksand. I wanted to spend as little time as possible in that room. The diningroom for the free breakfast was old and uninviting. The cabinets were old, discolored, and broken. The tables were dirty. Gross. It was good to leave that place.

We stayed for one night in Room 222.  This is what was ok:  I think the hotel management may be trying to improve from the past although they have a lot to overcome.  It looked like our bathroom walls were recently re-tiled and had new white caulk.  The room had a working flat screen tv and small fridge. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Very bad stuff: We noted a number of what appear to be very serious safety and  security issues. I am surprised the City of Kingston allows this place to operate.   The room did not appear to have a working smoke detector, nor did we see any in the hallways. We also did not see any sprinklers anywhere in the building. Without working fire detectors and a fire suppression system, the hotel would be a deathtrap if a fire broke out.  We did not see any fire extinguishers in the hallways. The chain latch on our door was flimsy, easily allowing forcible entry into our room.  We could see light all around the door, which would allow smoke to enter if a fire occurred and we could not escape through the hallway. The room phone did not have information needed to place an emergency call under stress, such as the hotel address and room number. It was just a regular desk phone. It also did not indicate how to reach the front desk. The second floor has a wall installed around the stairwell that creates a narrowing that would be a choke point for escape or for rescuers. As it is, it is inconvenient to get through the narrow part with luggage the size of a rollaboard. I do not think it would be easy to evacuate someone in a stretcher through this point. The second floor is not ADA-compliant. It is accessed by a set of ricketey narrow stairs. There is no elevator. It is difficult to get luggage to second floor rooms even if you don't have a handicap. Relatively minor bad things: The hotel has a policy that they do not provide any refunds for any reason. Given what customers experience on actually seeing a room, this seems unreasonable. Our room had something spladdered across  the wall. The bed comforter was badly stained with yellow and brown spots and was disgusting. The desk clerk carried on a phone conversation in a foreign language while checking us in. We did not feel welcome and wondered what he was saying about us. The grout in the bathroom floor (in contrast to the new walls) was filthy. The hotel does have a pool, but it appears the be permanently filled with dirt and has grass growing in it. There was a basketball goal standing on it, so it is not just a cover.  The towels and bed linens are very poor quality. The room had two small bath towels, one hand towel, and one washcloth. We asked for two more towels and the desk clerk said they have only one spare towel. It took some experimentation to turn on the lights in our room. Overall, this place needs to be closed. You may be risking your life by staying here.
