Stayed at JBL for the third straight summer (fifth time overall), and thoroughly enjoyed it... as always! The location is fantastic, with access to multiple hiking trails of all levels and a lovely brook steps from the lodge. The staff are always welcoming and professional, despite (or maybe because of) their youth. And the meals are remarkably good for 5km...

This hut is great for the hikers. There is a lot of trails from there, the lodge is clean and have basic facilites. Of course this is a mountain hut so you there are some rules like quite hours at 10pm etc. But it's standard for hikers who wants to get up early and git the trail. The only minus...

Bobby, Meredith and the team there were simply amazing. Sweet, professional, helpful ... and great cooks. Our group of 12 from Ottawa-Gatineau could not have asked for more. Amazing location, right on the Phelps trail (no. 1), saving us 3.5 miles x 2 = 7 miles off our Marcy hike. Cannot beive the gluten free options were not just "ok",...

Please note that JBL is NOT a hotel. It is a 3.5 mile walk with 700 feet of elevation gain along a trail to a cabin in the woods. But this is no ordinary cabin -- as during the summer seasons, you will have three meals a day cooked for you and you will have access to some of the...

My two daughters and I recently spent 3 days/2 nights at the Johns Brook Lodge. It is about a 3.5 mile hike from the Garden parking area in Keene Valley, NY. We used it as a base camp during our hike to Mt. Marcy. The lodge is very nice and clean. The cost of your stay includes a hot breakfast...

Breakfast fare rotates among french toast/ham/canned fruit, pancakes/bacon,fruit, and biscuits/sausage/fruit; lunch is one PBJ sandwoch plus one of meat or hummus, plus a dessert, supper is greens, meat or casserole-type dish, bread, and cake-dessert. Pretty plain fare, in mnost people's books. Two of its rooms are quite large for hotel standards, although you share them with up to 9 others...

This is a great place to use as base camp to hike the surrounding peaks. Everyone is so friendly and the staff is very helpful. It's a shared bunk room facility with two bathrooms and no shower. The brook is close and most people wash off there. Also a good place to soak sore feet or chill a beer! I...

Just returned from a two night stay at JBL. It's a great option for those who want a few "comforts" when hiking for multiple days in the Adirondack High Peaks area. There are several trails leading in and out of JBL so its well situated. The lodge is very clean and the mattresses are comfortable. We brought a twin bottom...

My husband and I spent 2 nights at JBL in one of the 4 person rooms and the stay exceeded our expectations. Wool blanket and pillow was provided. Spent a third weekend in as many years at JBL, getting a couple more High Peaks under our belts. The Lodge was great as always, with generous & helpful staff and a new cast of fellow hikers to liven up the evenings! Thanks again!
