I booked a room at AAE Howard J's because my son was stuck at JFK and needed a cheap close room with a shuttle. I booked online and gave my credit card for deposite to hold the room. I then read the instructions from them to get the shuttle to my son. He followed the instructions and when he got...

When we arrived in New York, we had reservations via a third party vendor for AAE Hostels. However, our party of 6 people were met with the news that they did not have a reservation for us and that the hostel was sold out. The vendor said they had received a fax from the hostel over a month before. This...

Very nice room, linens, pillows. Belgian waffles, juice, cereal, coffe, tea, breakfast. Get there 5 minutes before opening to beat the rush for waffles and a table. 3-4 fast food restaurants like burger King around. Jamaican restaurants in the neighborhood. To this world traveled DC worker, the neighborhood was questionable. Wouldn't go far from the hotel at night but you...

I stayed for two nights with four other friends; we booked a private room for five. The hostel website we booked through said that there was a pool, however there is not - we were almost laughed at by the guy at reception when we asked about it. We were happy with the location; it is only a five minute...

This hostel is appropriate for the budget traveller who is looking for affordable accomodations in NYC, with basic clean amenities, and for whom having a private bathroom and free parking is important, and you don't mind being a longer--though easy-- subway ride away. Otherwise, you can find similarly priced accomodations in Manhattan itself, but you will be sharing a bathroom...
