We spent 3 nights at the Lodge and had an excellent stay. The room was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and you can sit on your balcony or by the pool when not on a game drive and watch animals come to the lagoon beside the lodge. All the staff are really welcoming, friendly and do everything they can to ensure you have a great stay and the food is varied, fresh ( all the vegetables are grown on Lodge's farm) and very tasty. Our guide, Shadrick, was excellent - very knowledgable about all the animals, birds and the flora/fauna and the wildlife is varied and plentiful - we had lots of great sightings.
From the time we arrived at Mfuwe lodge to the time we left, the service was uniformly excellent. Another standout feature were the game drives and our guides (Alick & Shadrick). We saw pretty much everything there was to see and that was thanks to the skill and knowledge of the guides. It was 19 years since we had last been on safari in Africa (East Africa previously) and it was novel to experience 4 hour game drives, well into the night with the benefit of a sweeping arc light. This allowed us to see nocturnal creatures. The sundowner drinks and bites (usually by a water body full of hippos) were also novel and delightful. The food was tasty and the lodge organized a braai one day in the park, which was cool. Overall, a great experience, which I would highly recommend.
We had an excellent stay at Mfuwe. We stayed for three nights and had the best experiences. The team at Mfuwe Lodge look after you incredibly well - that includes the lodge staff and safari guides. Our guide James, and spotter Moffat, were very knowledgeable and friendly, making sure we had the best viewing experiences possible. James is excellent as a guide, and knows so much about all of the animals and countryside that we were learning new things constantly. Every time we thought James had shown us the best there was (which would always be incredible), he would pull something else out of his hat and we would have another great viewing experience. Not only was the safari amazing, Mfuwe is also a lovely lodge. It is well put together with the right balance of elegance, interest and homeliness. We loved our rooms, the pool area and dining set-up. I still keep thinking back to the wonderful time we had a Mfuwe and hope to visit again one day. I can't recommend the lodge and experience highly enough.…
Couldn’t wait to be back to our home from home and as soon as the covid restrictions were relaxed we booked up and oh my life I’m so glad we did, the emotions I feel when I step off the plane is always amazing it’s the same when you arrive at the lodge, it’s like seeing old friends again. The staff are always so accommodating and attend to your every need. The rooms have had a make over and look really fresh and welcoming after a long trip or game drive, the food was amazing as always, bush breakfast was an added bonus along with the very unexpected Easter egg hunt for the little ones. As for the game drives we couldn’t of asked for more, our guide Peter was great and involved our ten year old in every sighting we had, his knowledge is exceptional, and the detail he went into blows you away. Just want to say a massive thanks to Andy, Ian, Amy and their team and hopefully we will be back very soon.…
We stayed at Mfuwe Lodge for 2 nights after having spent 3 nights at Kapamba and Flatdogs respectively, so we were in a good position to make comparisons. Mfuwe is relatively large by Bush Camp standards, with 18 chalets. The chalets are in two groups, arranged on the banks of two different lagoons. In discussion with other guests some expressed preferences for one lagoon vs. another but we were quite satisfied with ours and enjoyed watching the various animals that wandered past our deck. The camp is luxurious in every respect, with outstanding levels of service, good food and nice touches, such as their own home-made marmalade and other condiments. Our guide Peter was well-informed and engaging, and the camp accommodated our request for a walking safari in lieu of one of the morning game drives, which we really appreciated. Highly recommended.…
