It is clean, well-appointed, close to camp, with very nice owners. Excellent cell phone signal (not a guaranteed thing in this area; we know from experience). And there is a very pretty view. The hotel pickings in the area are sparse; so this worked very well for our purposes. Recommended.

Our son attends French Woods Performing Arts camp. This is (by far) the best place to stay on visiting day. The owners are very nice, the rooms are comfortable, and the camp is just a couple of miles down the road. We'd highly recommend this for one or two nights.

The good stuff first: The view is lovely. The proprietors are pleasant. The dog is cute. The clunky old Western Electric telephone in the room is fabulous. The cheery bedside clock (I guess they can't afford a $9.95 clock-radio) made me smile every time I looked at it. The heater/air-conditioner worked flawlessly. The rates can't be beat. The place was...

We stayed here while we were upstate wheeling. It had everything you need for a good night's sleep. It was clean, the bed's were comfy and it was quiet. I think it caters more to fishermen, but the owners were pleasant, left a key for us when we called to say we'd be late, and all our basic needs were...

Knotty pine rooms. Very clean. They accept pets and are very friendly. The rates are very fair. Tv, refrigerator, a/c, wifi and coffee. Two beds and a great view of the river. I would definitely stay there again.

Up for the weekend fishing and as always stayed at Smith's. Stayed in room 18 for the first time. This a large room facing the river. My only complaint is the bathroom sink faucet and the shower faucet need to be replaced. They are hard to modulate and just plain worn out. When you flush the toilet it makes a...

I hadn't planned to stop in Hancock for the night, but didn't dare to go further on icy roads. I was prepared to stay over at any kind of miserable accommodations, just to get off NY 17. To my great surprise, I ended up at this sweet motel! Possibly the nicest accommodations I have had since I left Michigan to...

Stayed here on my way from Maine to Virginia. A bit off the highway and not close to restaurants, but a decent motel, clean, comfortable and a nice view from the back window. Bring your own soap and shampoo; room has fridge & microwave, no "easy" chair, but decent bed.

I stayed at this lovely little motel this weekend for the Catskill Chill and will go back! It's not fancy, but it was super clean, very conveniently located, and the people were so very nice. The view from the back window of the room was absolutely beautiful. The owner greeted us late Thursday night with her precious yellow lab. The...

I have been staying here at the colonial for over a year now off and on. I can't say enough about it. I love the rooms, the view. Staff and management the best. And I find it a great place for a romantic getaway. Works for me.

“All rooms have river views”
hoovmeister, 18 Jun 2016 | Read review
“Room 11, in the front, had a great view out its rear windows, and the proprietor said that it was her favorite. The ground is lower in the back of the building, so all of the rooms that are at street level in the front are one flight up in the back, which means that they have no direct access to the grounds at the rear. There are also a couple of lower-level rooms, reached from the back. Being lower down, they have somewhat inferior views of the river, but they have direct access to the grounds. (They're also probably quieter, but the road has virtually no traffic on it.) My room was tiny and spare, and I assume that they all are. Not even an easy chair.”
