This hotel is very pretty, with two nice pools. The rooms (we stayed in two) are charming, and each have their own feel. The breakfast is delicious, and it's nice the hotel has beach passes for guests. The beach chairs need to be updated (they are mostly broken) -- the service, however, is not what it should be for this...

We were so glad we booked to stay here as it gave us what we were looking for - a Hamptons experience without needing to own the house. This house is beautiful, the staff both efficient and friendly, the gardens gorgeous. We stayed in the Gardiner room and it was perfect - large and decorated in a style that was...

I am not a fan of the Hamptons. Unless you have your own home, have invitations to parties and/or love to shop...there are few things to do and fewer places to stay. Until this year for the film festival . We stayed in a great room (forget the price), in a great location, in a great little B & B:...

We stayed over the weekend. We had requested upon booking late check-out since the hotel was virtually empty, reception originally told us "it is fine, nobody is here tonight". Then called us to invent a story that was obviously made up in order to cancel that - they got angry when I pointed out the obvious contradictions in their story....

The Baker House and its Carriage House is defined as a bed and breakfast guest house, but quirky, superior and totally beyond expectations. The rooms were modernised, spacious and all had huge bathrooms. Both houses had large fireplaces which had been upgraded to use instant light logs which kept the lounge areas cosy. In each lounge was provided with free...

This is a charming, historic home, but the rooms in the front have highway noise all night long. The rooms overlooking the back garden are much quieter. The 200-year-old wisteria, the tiger lilies hanging over the pool, and the grounds in general are gorgeous. They have so many beautiful coffee table books both in the main living room and the...

Secluded Tudor home on Main Street. Large, modern rooms. Privacy in the rear cottage. Lovely breakfasts; comfortable common rooms. Pricey but it is the Hamptons. You can take wine and liquor as you wish- on the honor system. Thus you feel at home away from home. It's not super cushy in terms of service but fine for a short retreat

We decided to spend the night at The Baker House 1650 for our first wedding anniversary. What a great decision we made. Every square inch of this historic residence is impeccably designed and beautifully furnished. It's décor is only surpassed by the magnificent service we received. Shortly after arriving we were shown to the spa on the lower floor. Candles...

We stayed for a long weekend at the Baker House, and we absolutely loved the place! Our room was very large, clean and comfortable with a great view of the main street. The bathroom was fantastic. We had a huge walk in closet and lots of books, trinkets and nice antique furniture. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and...

We usually don't spend this much for a room but we wanted to actually stay in East Hampton. What a treat. This place is impeccably maintained and beautifully decorated. I read several reviews, so knew if I choose a room on the street, I'd hear some road noise. Yes there was some noise but mostly in the morning. We loved...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
East Hampton Village's charming Baker House 1650 is regarded by critics and guests alike as the most exclusive and luxurious bed and breakfast in the Hamptons. From the ivy covered walls to the 200 year old wisteria and formal English gardens, the feel is distinctly European. Less expected are state of the art amenities such as flat screen high definition TV's with full cable and DVD players, Bose wave music systems with iPod docks and free wireless internet. The large, beautifully furnished rooms with wood burning fireplaces, William Morris wallpapers, and Frette linens delight visitors, and the lavish bathrooms are enhanced by whirlpools and L'Occitane products. The outdoor infinity-edge pool, with teak chaises for sunbathing, is ideal for unwinding, and the Baker Spa, featuring an endless pool, massage area, steam shower, Jacuzzi and sauna, provides unparalleled relaxation. In the summer, guests receive coveted East Hampton Village beach parking passes, as well as plush beach towels, umbrellas and chairs. The Baker Carriage House, located directly behind the main house, offers even more luxurious accommodations and suites, making it a purely indulgent retreat. The Baker House 1650 is ideally located on the historic village green, within walking distance to the ocean, as well as world-class shopping and restaurants. ... more   less
