The Umbrella Hotel is a cute little hotel located on a tree lined street with free parking on the weekends. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. The room was super clean. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were nice and fresh. The Umbrella Hotel is in walking distance of a Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, cigar shop and a pizza place that made authentic delicious NY Pizza. I would recommend this hotel for an inexpensive but delightful hotel. A nice hotel can make or break a trip. The Umbrella made my trip so much more enjoyable and fun.
The service was absolutely awesome! they are cheerful and friendly and helpful in every way! I can't say enough about the service! The hotel however... Sketchy location (the front desk is behind bulletproof glass). Our room had a lot of little issues that were annoying but which were promptly fixed by the friendly helpful and cheerful staff! They need to have a placard in the bathroom explaining how to make the shower work. If you can't get the shower to work go downstairs and I'll show you on their demo shower which means nobody can figure out how to make the shower work! Their breakfast room was being remodeled and they gave us gift cards to Dunkin Donuts switch was a perfectly acceptable alternative. Overall not a bad place to stay I wouldn't consider it an Ascend in the Choice Hotel Collection but acceptable except for the location. Again I can't say enough about the staff they were really great!…
Decent hotel in a not-so-nice area of the Bronx. The buildings across the street and next to it are rundown or closed up. There is parking for only 3 cars behind the building by the trash but makes it safer for your vehicle. Very small but clean rooms with refrigerator, full size beds and a Keurig type coffee maker but no coffee or cups in the rooms. The front desk staff were very nice.
The hotel itself is great! The room was very clean - quite big enough for the two of us - great TV and wifi - good parking - comfy bed and pillows - good air conditioning - great service from the front desk. The area where the hotel is located is very scary. I am not sure that we will return even though we really like the hotel. I certainly hope that the Bronx will clean itself up soon.
if all you want is a clean bed to sleep in then stay. Keurig coffee pot in room but no coffee pods. No iron or ironing boards. No continental breakfast as advertised. No wifi or internet was offered..
place is a joke, they charge too much for the lo -cal. Its really bad , anyone whreads reviews as a guide heed my warning . this place is not worth whst they charge There is one ice macnine and its on the 6 th. Floor. The remote was broken and and the sheets are old. And for the price im shocked at the way i wS treated. These people need a clue in hospitality. Dont fall fall this ,its a sad nightmare so
A wonderful hotel in a great location. A short walk to Yankee staduim. They weren't yet serving breakfast at the hotel, but provided gift cards for "Dunkin Donuts", where I had a nice breakfast sandwich. Don't believe any negative comments you see! It is a very good hotel in a very good location!!
We took a trip to the Yankee/Twins game and stayed here for the night. Aside from very limited parking (4 spots). The hotel is very nice almost too upscale for the area its in. Hotel staff were very helpful. After the game we ventured into the city, front desk people called an uber for us. Overall this place is a surprise. Rooms are on the small side but very nice, bed are comfortable and I had a great view of the city from my room. If I ever go to another Yankee game I will stay here....
I came from Texas visited in bronx to see my friend ... that was the nearest Hotel to my friend’s house . I spent 1 night in the Hotel that was awesome and the View at night was really good .. the Front desk Guys were Nice and friendly . the housekeeping job was awesome .. the all i want to say is Just have a visit .,, you gonna love that place
So I was admittedly nervous after reading the reviews about this hotel online - concerns about the neighborhood & the protective glass in the lobby. I came to town to see my beloved Yankees beat the Red Sox (yay!). We walked to the stadium and back, bought food from the halal truck and visited a bodega up the block. I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable- not for one minute. The room was tiny compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in but the bed was comfortable, towels were soft and water was hot!
