Just got back two days ago from San Camp. I was a skeptic when I was talked into booking it by my agent, and upon arrival, I thought that skepticism was well deserved. Let's face it...the place is a bit desolate. But, how wrong I...More

There is no electricity at San Camp - just 6 well decorated white canvas tents twinned with a dramatic location! This was our last stop which offered us a starkly different landscape within the vast emptiness of the Kalahari Desert. Kirsty, the manager, was extremely...More

This place redefined luxury for us. Kirsty is an outstanding host for one so young, and our every need was catered for. The accommodations are stunning, very Lawrence of Arabia, well furnished, spacious and comfortable – and with running water!! The food was absolutely divine...More

This was our first camp on a 3 week trip to Botswana and Zimbabwe and the one that I dream of most. The setting on the Makgadikdadi Salt Pans could not be more beautiful, overloooking a vast nothingness that transforms dramatically at sunrise and sunset...More

About
Description
San Camp, deep in the Kalahari, is one of the most romantic and intimate camps in Africa. Completely rebuilt in 2011, the camp's classic six white tents stand majestically on the edge of the endless More Makgadikgadi Salt Pans - each sheltered by a cluster of desert palms. The central dining tent houses a small library and natural history museum filled with fascinating artefacts from the area. There is also a yoga and meditation tent for Guests wanting to enjoy the space and serenity of the area. San Camp operates during the dry season, from 16th April to 15th October. Activities on offer at San Camp include: interacting with incredibly friendly habituated meerkats, walking with Bushmen Guides, game drives to experience unique desert wildlife, Chapman's Baobab - one of the oldest and biggest trees in Africa, bird watching, night drives and quad biking across the lunar expanse of the pans Less
