(This review is late. We stayed at the Sanctuary in Jan 2015.) The Sanctuary was the third safari location for our family (Kalahari Plains Camp, Jao Camp). Our family rented three villas. Each of them had a strong unpleasant odor. Not sure what it was but we equated it to animal urine. It wasn't strong enough to force us out...

Dear Guest, Firstly, let me thank you for your positive comments regarding the team here at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero as that means a great deal to us. We are troubled, however, that your experience with us did not live up to what you would normally expect from Sanctuary Retreats. You stayed with us during the rainy season and sometimes after...

Large suite of rooms which was beautifully and authentically appointed. Friendly staff and a welcome every time we came back to our too brief home from home in Chobe. The highlight was tenacious Chika who found us a pride of lions by the water at dusk and gave us the best G and Ts ever. Thank you all

We had 2 nights here and it was an excellent stay, albeit quiet with only a few American guests with us. Nevertheless, the staff food drink and accomodation were of the highest order , and whilst the games drives were in areas where there were others doing the same, we did see some excellent creatures, and a good evening cruise...

My husband and I visited for two nights following a cruise to Capetown. We had a great stay. Exciting game drives and river safaris. Saw lots of animals and our guide Ali was very knowledgeable.. Room and food was very good and the staff couldn't do enough to help. On our last evening we had been on a drive in...

We can not say enough good things about this lodge. The staff attend to every detail and make your stay very special. The unique combination of a morning land game drive and an evening boat game drive provides excellent opportunity to see many wild animals and birds from distinctly different perspectives.

Firstly, the positives: 1. the quality of the accommodation is luxurious and in line with what you'd expect for the price. We did not try the spa facilities but I am sure they are equally good. 2. Chobe National Park which is only a short drive away is truly amazing and fully deserving of its reputation as one of the...

On a hill overlooking Botswana’s Chobe River, the Chilwero Sanctuary Lodge is privileged perch from which to observe Botswana’s extraordinary wildlife. We had arrived in mid December and had worried that the game might all be gone because of the rainy season but the rains were late this year which for us meant good luck. We saw thousands of elephant,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush, with all of the facilities of a larger resort. The main area commands fabulous views over the Chobe River which borders Chobe National Park to the north. As well as the elephants for which the park is famous for, guests can relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for. Each of the 14 thatched guest cottages has two showers, one inside and one outside. The ensuite bathroom also has a large free-standing bath. After a day of game viewing, what better way to relax than in your own private garden with a cocktail? Or if the fancy takes you, why not have your gourmet dinner served right here under the African sky. Coffee stations are now available for guest use in the rooms. Our honeymoon suite at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero features a private plunge pool and deck area where guests will be able to enjoy private dinners for two under the stars (weather permitting) and special turn downs every night. Guests booking this room will automatically receive a private vehicle and guide for all game viewing activities. Coffee stations are now available for guest use in the rooms. ... more   less
