We only went to File dan Stream to partake in their clay pigeon shooting exercises. The range administrators were absolutley fantastic, making the entire morning very enjoyable and a lot of fun. Very professionally handled with all novices at the game - well done.

Total tranquility. Just the place to spend some time away from the city. 3 Waterfalls on the farm of which 2 is easy accessible.Although the Tonteldoos gravel road is not in a wonderful condition reaching our destination made up for it. The view from Cormorant Cove was beautiful. 2 Bedrooms with comfortable beds and 2 bathrooms with bath and shower.Ample...

I really loved Field & Stream. We went away for the weekend. Awesome dams to do some good fly fishing. A beautiful waterfall is on the farm. We arrived during a hail storm which made the roads extremely hard to drive on especially with the 1km decline from the gate to the house. This was done in a Polo which...

We spent the night in the cosy 'Comorants cove' which was fantastic! The unit is well equipped with a porch overlooking one of the many trout dams and comes complete with a great fire place to stave off the cold evenings. The serenity of the trout dams is surpassed only by the three beautiful waterfalls on the farm which are...

What an absolute gem of a find. 11km out of Dullstroom is Field & Stream. We went as a group of friends for the weekend away and did we get a surprise. The views are brilliant. Trout dams on our door step. If you like mountain biking the gravel road gives you a 22km ride that is not very technical...

Spent two nights at "The Nest", what a comfy place to stay! Perfect for couples just wanting to break away for the weekend. Everything was just perfect! Dullstroom is a very cold place, but thanks to the cute little fire place (wood and fire lighters provided) we had a great time indoors. During the day you can explore all the...

11 of us spent a long weekend at the Lodge at Field and Stream. Great, spacious accommodation: 5 rooms and 4 bathrooms. Kitchen well equipped to prepare any meal. Fireplace - favourite in Autumn. Setting is beautiful: walks to pools and waterfalls. No network coverage was the bonus - power down and relax - talk, play games and chill.

We stayed at the Farmstead with our dogs and had a wonderful time. The house was well appointed and very comfortable. Walking on the property was exceptionally nice. Resort manager Kevin was most helpful. We also met the owner Greg Williams when visiting the nearby town of Dullstroom. We can highly recommend Field & Stream for a getaway with one's...

We had a wonderful stay at this private farm. Beautiful dams, stunning river and amazing waterfalls! Abundance of wild flowers were in bloom during our stay - simply magnificent. We spent hours hiking, birding, swimming and exploring. We watched trout jump from the waters and Egyptian geese defend their territory, we even saw an otter!!(we didn't fish but other guests...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Field and Stream is 9 km on the Tonteldoos Road, outside of Dullstroom on the Mpumalanga Highland grasslands. The farm is ideal for couples, families or groups wanting to escape the business of city life. Whether you enjoy trout fishing in dams or on a river, walking, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching or just relaxing, the farm offers you the opportunity to relax and recharge. The farm also has a clay pigeon shooting range and the Wingers Bush Bar which is open every Saturday and on request (if more than four people) at other times of the week. The farm is also suitable for more informal corporate retreats. Field and Stream has a great diversity of Mpumalanga's grassland birds and plants, and for the more focussed, a plethora of dragonflies and other insects. Blesbuck, Grey Rhebuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Duikers, Fallow Deer, Cape Otters, Sidestriped and Blackbacked Jackals, Serval, Caracal, Brown Hyena, Aardvark, Bushpig, Warthog, monkeys and baboons are present on the farm and are regularly seen by guests. Field and Stream has five streams originating on the farm, all tributaries of the Witpoort River, The many pools along these streams, and the three waterfalls on the farm offer a guest great opportunities for picnics and cool swims. The three dams and Witpoort River are all stocked with Rainbow Trout and the farm is well known for its good fly fishing in the area. Note though that the River is closed to fishing between 1 May and 30 August. It has five self catering cottages in a farm setting. There are two six to eight sleepers - Cormorant Cove and Eagle Crest which overlook Meike's Meer. The Lodge is a 10 sleeper unit, within very close walking distance of William's Favourite, a weir. The Farmstead is a pet friendly six sleeper unit. The Nest is a pet friendly two sleeper unit. In total, the farm can accommodate up to 30 people. A high clearance vehicle is preferable, but if driven with care, normal cars can be used. ... more   less
