Very comfortable attractive accomadation in separate glass walled lodges all out of sight to other lodges. First class game viewing especially the graceful elegant cheetahs. We were lucky enough to see a pack of African wild dogs who had just made a kill, this is a rarity. The staff of the reserve are all young and enthusiastic and our ranger...

Most amazing and memorable trip of a lifetime. Spacious, luxurious and elegant totally private forest bungalows. Game drives were outstanding. Knowledgeable drivers and trackers. Animals everywhere!! Lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, many birds, eagles, owls - unbelievable experience. Thank you Phinda Forest Lodge.

We stayed at Phinda Forest lodge as part one of a safari organized by &beyond. We both adored Phinda Forest Lodge. The rooms are very unique; understated luxury in a sand forest - where you can watch the Kudu walking by from your bed. The attention from the staff was wonderful; always with a smile. Our butler, whose name I...

Wow, mostly just wow. It is a game reserve so it is pretty clear you will see most if not all of the big 5. For Americans the game reserve is large, think bigger than the entire city of San Francisco in terms of square miles. But the animals aren't fed, managed or separated. It is wild and we received...

My first African safari and after going here I wouldn't want to do a safari anywhere else. A truly memorable life moment and more than I could ever have hoped for. The lodge we stayed at was above five star and the food was great. The setup of the whole reserve is excellent and provides for an amazing experience. Our...

I can be a bit of a stickler and micromanager regarding the type of service and experiences that I engage in while on vacation. My family and friends agree that this is not my best quality... However, I can truly say that the service (restaurant staff, rangers/trackers, etc.) at Phinda was exceptional and made me feel at ease knowing that...

It's been a while since since I've been to one of these places. This is a chain. Accommodation was excellent as was the food and service. However, the actual game drives were so-so. Just felt a lack of knowledge and passion by the driver/guide/tracker. These are expensive days, so shop carefully and probably give this one a miss. Distinct lack...

4 nights at the lodge was way too long. We had just come from 4 nights at a different property and there was no comparison. Upon arrival, ants in the room and it only got worse from there. Ants infested on the tables in the dining area. Management not very present and delay before anything addressed. Lack of English speaking...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set deep in the heart of a rare and beautiful dry sand forest, the award-winning Forest Lodge fuses architecture and conservation. The lodge was hand built by local artisans, with a minimal footprint on the forest floor – not one tree was felled during construction. An exquisite contradiction, floor-to-ceiling glass walls invite the forest inside, while the dense tree canopy shelters and provides privacy. Floating on stilts above the forest floor while dainty suni graze below, the 16 Zulu Zen suites blend harmoniously into the dappled shade. ... more   less
