We had very high expectations based on the reviews on this site and the recommendation from our travel agent. The rooms are spacious and the staff is very friendly. They really don't know how to be a "luxury" property. Our meal orders were wrong on a constant basis. Simple things like "no onions" were missed at literally every single meal....

We have been to other very luxury lodges, but this beats everything! Our friends set this up for us and we spent 3 nights at Madikwe Lodge, what an experience. The staff is absolutely amazing. We never heard the word 'No'. Every night was a different setting for dinner. Our accommodations were 5* +. They do something very special the...

We arrived late afternoon after a 2 flights from Cape Town. The staff was expecting us and made us feel like apart of their family from the moment we arrived. The bush drives were so relaxing, thrilling and educational. Our young and engaged guide, Wienand, was the best. Professional, courteous, smart and kind. He handled my mom who was celebrating...

I was on a business trip in Botswana and had the weekend with nothing to do. Very last minute I booked with Madikwe for just 1 night but getting picked up at 6am (from Gaborone) so that I could spend the full day there and get 2 game drives and a bush walk over 2 days. It was incredible, expensive...

Recently, our family group of 8 adults took over Dithaba Lodge, Madikwe and made it our home for four wonderful days. What a great time we had. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very special. All the staff were waiting outside to welcome us with cool scented towels to refresh us and we set off immediately...

The 4 days at this lodge were wonderful. Billy, the ranger was very skilled at locating birds and animals and was always trying to position the vehicle for the best camera angle. The lodge staff all did superb jobs, particularly Rebecca, Jane and Nicolas (the chef). Johanne, the lodge manager, engaged well with all the guests and made every effort...

Fantastic experience at Madikwe. We stayed in the Dithaba lodge, part of the Madikwe safari lodge. Super service, great accommodation, wonderful people and good food. The safari drives were good and long; we've seen a lot of animals from different species. Most special were the wild dogs... but every ride was a unique experience (and we had done several safari's...

Our 3 night stay at Kopano Lodge really was fantastic. My boyfriend and I decided to drive from Johannesburg airport with Ilios travel which took around 4 hours (there is an airstrip in the reserve but the flight times didn't work for us) however the drive was fine. I found it fascinating to drive through the villages and discover a...

We've just spent 4 days at the Dithaba lodge which is part of the Madikwe Safari Lodge, what a fantastic experience! The layout is great with a central lodge for relaxing and dining and then 4 en suite dwellings, each with it's own deck and plunge pool. The food was good with the breakfasts being the highlight each day. My...

The lodge is very luxurious, the game drives are excellent. Our guide, JP was marvellous. The staff tried very hard to satisfy our requests. Unfortunately we found that the variety and choice of foods served were not as good as we expected for a five star destination. This was complicated by the fact that my wife eats fish, pastas and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
