Wow! Where do I start? We came back from our first trip to Africa a couple of days ago. After flying from Brisbane to Perth, then to Jo'Burg and finally a short hop to Hoedspruit Airport (a gathering of small buildings in the bush) and...More
I cannot recommend Garonga Safari camp enough. There were 4 of us travelling (2 couples). Prior to travelling we did extensive research on where to go on Safari and we were delighted with our choice. The moment we arrived we knew Garonga was special. We...More
From arrival to departure Garonga Safari Camp was pure heaven. We were greeted with warm smiles and cool refreshments. They showed us our cabins which had comfortable beds and were kept impeccable at all times. Food and beverages were provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner....More
I had booked the lodge and safari for my hen party/trip. I had 15 women (including myself) flying from all around world for this unbelievable experience. Bernie and the Garonga staff went above and beyond to made every moment magical. From the moment I contacted...More

Unfortunately we didn't get married there. We did however select Garonga to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. As a couple in our 40s we were the oldest couple for the first 3 nights with most of the other younger couples on their honeymoon. Garonga is very romantic and you never felt that the other guests or staff intruded. A wedding there would be so special because everything else was amazing! If I could get married again I wouldn't hesitate choosing Garonga.

As beautiful as the safari drives are, they require physical agility to climb into and out of the safari vehicle, ride on unpaved, rough terrain for at least 3 hours and brave the cold in the morning or the sun in the afternoon. There are "bathroom breaks" during the game drive but no facilities anywhere.
Whether or not it is doable, depends on your willingness to suffer discomforts for about 3 hours, while seeing amazing sites - like herds of elephants from fully mature to baby size and rhinos that remind you of the movie "Jurasic Park".
It' s hard to make a recommendation for another senior.

Hi Frank, I've only just seen this question. We visited there in May. Day time temperatures were bareable, not too hot but not cold either. It's quite comfortable especially whilst on game drives as you get nice winds. Evening times the temperature drops and you could do with a light jumper, so I don't believe you will struggle to sleep. Hope this helps.
