We spent three days and nights at Baobab Ridge as part of our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Wonderful food, lovely, lovely staff, beautiful accommodation and surroundings and 6 fantastic game drives. We saw leopards, lions, elephants, black rhino, honey badgers, giraffes, warthogs and more. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer, the...

We spent three nights over New Year at Baobab. So nice and friendly and very good food. At New Year they organized an extra happening for us all. Just 16 guests and the luxurious lodges make you feel as if you are in a top 5-star hotel. David was our guide and he was so knowledgeable, dedicated and nice. I...

First time to Kruger and had a wonderful stay at Baobab Ridge. Spacious lodges with outlook directly onto reserve. Lovely host, staff and guides. Despite coming into wet season (very green), we saw the "big five" plus lots of birds and new borns. Our final morning breakfast included a heard if elephants visiting the water hole!

This was our second visit to Baobab ridge lodge . The first 4 years ago we took over the whole lodge following our daughters Wedding . This year I was planning our return visit to the Kruger area and asked advice from a lodge booker who tried to persuade me to book a different lodge which when I investigated the...

My mum and me loved our entire stay at the ridge for all 3 nights. Jess, brett and Nini were very friendly and accommodating from the time we arrived. Food was delicious! We were well fed throughout our entire stay. They would take note if you had any special dietary preference. Our rooms were also well maintained and always cleaned...

After five game drives, our excellent tracker/guide David, had shown us everything from elephant to ground squirrel and from kudu and nyala to steenbok and duiker, not to mention a somnolent old lion. But we three blasé octogenarians had seen it all before and thirsted for something special. Then suddenly, an hour before the scheduled end of our last drive,...

This is what we said as we were sadly leaving! Jason and volunteer Sofie gave us so many experiences of the bushveldt and so much information my head was exploding with joy! We couldn't get enough and would go again tomorrow if there weren't so many other places still to see. The accomodation was individual spacious "cabins" with air conditioning...

My family, which includes three boys aged 8, 10 and 12, stayed at the Baobab Ridge in July 2016 for almost a week. We loved it! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Baobab Ridge Lodge is a private lodge situated in the prestigious Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. It provides luxurious yet affordable air-conditioned accommodation, offering guests beautiful bush-veld landscapes with an excellent possibility of coming face to face with the "Big 5" and bird species in their natural habitat. *This lodge is fully catered and can be booked exclusively for up to 16 guests (ideal for groups seeking complete privacy and no age limits!). *The lodge can only be booked on a self catered basis, if the entire lodge is booked privately, not for individual cottages! Activities at the lodge • Game drives in open Land Rovers. • Walking safaris, please request in advance, subject to availability and not included in rates. Minimum age is 16 years and up to 8 guests per walk. • Rhino conservation events, subject to availability and not included in rates (only available when entire lodge is booked) The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (approximately 60 000 hectares) is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The private game reserve lies along the western border of the Kruger, with no fencing separating the reserve from the Kruger or the Timbavati; allowing the animals to roam freely between the private game reserves and the Kruger Park. The game in both the Kruger and the neighbouring reserves is essentially the same, the only difference being the experience of driving off-road in open game viewers with professional guides and that this area is known worldwide, as the area the white lions originated from. They are born and live in the wild here, so the gene pool of the white lion is carried within the lions of this area and we have the odd sighting of white lions in our area. The professionally trained guides who accompany you on drives or walks are expert rangers (who are able to do their own tracking!) and are in contact with other lodge vehicles, greatly increasing your chances of finding the wildlife that you want to see. Some of the other game found in our area, are giraffe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, porcupine, African wild cat, honey badger, genets, bush babies, kudu, zebra, wild dog, cheetah, pangolin, aardvark, hyena, hippo and much, much more. Birding is quite spectacular, especially during our spring and summer when the migrant birds breed in the area. Hearing the cheerful call of the beautiful Woodland Kingfisher in the Summer, the haunting cry of the African Fish Eagle over waterways or the familiar evening camp fire sounds of hyena, lion, Nightjars and the Pearl Spotted Owlet has such a wonderfully calming effect! (Summer: September - April / Winter: May - August). ... more   less
