We stayed here for just one night after 4 days at the Karula Camp. We loved how informal and friendly Buffalo Camp was. Despite getting the 'honeymoon treatment' already at Karula they still laid on fruit and wine for myself and my new wife. The food is different but very good (we ate in the Boma) and breakfast was excellent....

this place, selfishly it needs to remain a secret so that it's as peaceful when we return one day! Buffalo camp is a special place run by special, dedicated people. Special mention to Claire who is so welcoming and calm, nothing is too much trouble for her to sort. Rowan in the restaurant whose smiling face and lovely manner looked after my...

We had been in Kapama Buffalo Camp for 3days which was the first accommodation of holidays in Africa. and it didn't take a long time to know that i had a right choice. The rooms were clean & fancy, dinings were not very very good for my taste, but all foods were well-prepared. The programs of game drives were so...

We were impressed with the luxurious tents, delicious meals and outstanding service in this 10 room lodge. We stayed three nights and would recommend the same. During their winter months be prepared for the morning and evening game drives by bringing a warm jacket, hat, gloves and scarf. They do provide capes/blankets and hot water bottles but it can get...

Tents are super lux, with a nice balcony, where we saw monkeys, antelope, mongoose. Saw the big 5 (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, rhino) in 2 nights (4 game drives), but we were happy to be there 3 nights. Also saw the elusive cheetah. Of course it is not a zoo, so depends on the animals. Some drives were packed with...

Myself and my wife stayed here in June 2014 on our honeymoon. We were here for 3 nights but wished we had stayed for more. The décor is amazing, the food was fantastic and the game drives were simply breathtaking. The sheer hospitality shown by everyone really bowled us over. It truly is an amazing set up. We saw all...

The family and I have just returned from South Africa where we spent a very relaxing and pleasant time at Kapama Buffalo Camp which is part of the Kapama Private Game Reserve. This reserve is about 13,000 hectares of virgin country and holds untold numbers of wild life of all descriptions, Our Ranger/driver Joe and Tracker Foster were fabulous. We saw...

Being the smallest of all the accommodation in Kapama, it provides luxury tented accommodation with attention to small detail equivalent to few other lodges in SA. Decor and furnishings in the tents are of a high quality and speaks of elegance and sophistication. After game drives ( which tended to be quite cold In the evenings) hot water bottles are...

The rooms were beautiful, but two out of our three rooms had serious bathroom issues with toilets that wouldn't flush. It was nice that the camp was small, but the food was very average and we didn't feel as welcome as we have at previous camps. The game reserve itself allows you to view many animals but it feels much...

Having spent two nights at Karula, Buffalo Camp is very different in concept in that it has a more traditional look and feel. That being said, it has all the modern-day amenities one would need and the tent itself is very cozy and comfortable. Love the balcony where I can relax with nyala grazing and mongeese (yes, that's the plural...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Reminiscent of a traditional African safari camp, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers a unique and intimate experience in the African bush. It is ideal for discovering big game Africa in true safari tented style without compromising on comfort.Ten luxury build canvas tents, each sleeping two, are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. Each tented room has all the usual comforts of electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, writing table, wardrobe, low impact climate control, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. With a maximum of 20 guests at Buffalo Camp, special attention is paid to personal service and the staff become like friends. Kapama Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush. ... more   less
