WE stopped here on our ways out west. The cabin was cozy and very welcoming. We were able to bring our dog without a problem. Small kitchen. There were three of us my husband myself and our son. One double bed is in an alcove next to the living room . Just be aware not much privacy. it was fine...

We had the most amazing stay at Idle Hour Lodge last month! This was our third visit and we were most impressed with all the improvements made over the last few years...the entire property has been turned into a beautiful garden at every turn. We felt at home here...our cabin was perfect and you can walk in every direction to...

This is the place we return to every year. Dorothy and Mike go out of their way every year to make us "Old Hogs" feel so welcome. More and more of our friends are staying at Idle Hour Cabins. Do yourself a favor and get back to comfortable rustic cabins and relax watching the river go by. Jack(Noodle)

I have reviewed this lodge a number of times and I am still exceptionally pleased with our stay. A few of us travel from Texas every year (4 or 5 times now) to visit the motorcycle rally held in Ruidoso every September. This year we were very pleased that some friends came from Midland and one from California. We had...

Enjoyed our respite from the August Texas heat while staying here. Stayed in room 11 with plenty of room for us and our small dog, Cindy. Loved the location. Close to town and restaurants as well as the golf course. Enjoyed our morning walk every day. Especially enjoyed chatting with the owners, Dorothy and Michael, as well as meeting other...

This was our first stay, but we will return for sure. We stayed in cabin #11 with 2 bedrooms; and it backed up to the river. Nice and quiet area; but still a few blocks off of the main road, and has a grocery store nearby. A deer wandered through the property each day.

The cabins are nicely decorated and very comfortable. We had the entire property rented and were able to set up 6 canopies around the grills & tables near the playground. We called this our "gathering area". The owners, Dorothy & Mike, were so nice & accommodating! We had 57 at our family reunion and everyone commented on what a perfect...

Really enjoyed staying at the cabin..Dorothy was very helpful and nice. We were able to relax and enjoy the lake, which was not too far away. It was my kids' first time at a cabin, and they were enjoying it so much they were NOT even on their cell phones! Would definitely stay here again!

Michael and Dorothy Schlitt treat their guests like family. They know what's fun to do and see nearby. I love listening to the river behind "our" cabin. Every time we return, we notice something new; sometimes it's redecorating, sometimes it's something new in the gardens. April is a GREAT month to visit!

Our 5-day stay at Idle Hour Lodge was great! Dorthy is very hospitable and welcoming and makes you feel like family. Our cabin, Cabin 11, was nicely decorated with Christmas lights and a small Christmas tree (great little touches). It was the perfect stay for our Christmas vacation. The location is perfect - not too far from town, within easy...
