Dear Niki B, Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review of Savanna. David and Lawrence enjoyed their safari with you tremendously and it seemed that the animals played along and was on full show for you during your stay. It was unfortunate that you felt poorly toward the end of your trip and we hope that the paramedic was able to assist in making your trip back home a little more comfortable. With warm wishes, Neil and the Savanna Family.

Referred to by travel agent and friends who had previously stayed there. The experience was even greater than expected and the property is even more stunning than the pictures depict. Were fortunate enough to see elephants using the watering hole about 100 feet from our front

Dear SportsTraveler, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Savanna. We are extremely happy to hear that you were referred here by your agent and friends, but more thrilled that your expectations were exceeded! The elephants have been using the waterholes in front of the camp with regularity over the past few months, giving great joy to guests and staff alike! We are also pleased that you rate our food, guides and staff so highly and will recommend Savanna. We hope to welcome you back to Savanna in the future, but until then, Warm wishes, Neil and the Savanna Family.

Good day Nick, We look forward to welcoming you to Savanna soon! We are busy going into Autumn, so the temperatures are relatively mild. This is a tricky time to pack for though, as you may experience some unseasonal extremes both ways! If we have a warm spell, the day time temperatures could reach 35 C (95F) quite easily. However, a cold snap could see the minimum drop to 10 - 12 C (50 F). What I would suggest is that you prepare for layers. A good fleece, with a warm wind breaker type jacket (on the vehicles the wind chill can be quite cold). The day time temperatures should still be very favourable, so summery clothes for the day plus swimming costumes would be perfect! If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us at the lodge. Please see our website for contact details. Warm wishes, Neil

Dear Mart_1005, Thank you for your question and congratulations from Savanna! We are extremely fortunate with regard weather, as each season brings a unique set of circumstances and viewing conditions. In the dry season, viewing conditions are generally optimal, as the bush is much thinner and your visibility is much greater. Animals also tend to congregate around the remaining waterholes, and there is very little chance of rain. The flip side of this coin is that it much greener, lusher and aesthetically beautiful in the summer months, with lots of water, plenty of food available for the animals, and a host of birds, butterflies and wild flowers around. This is also generally the season for the young, so your chances of seeing babies is much better. The down side of this season is potentially the heat, as well as a greater chance of being caught in some rain. The rain is, however usually short lived, and very warm and tropical, so it is not that uncomfortable. This is a short summary of the differences, but if you would like some more detail or have any other questions, please feel free to contact us directly. Kind regards, Neil

We went at the start of winter (June) which is s low season for malaria. We brought medication and chose to not take it because there were no mosquitos during our stay.

Hi. I have just come back from Savanna and took the advice from Neil a keen photographer and Savanna ranger and a 70-200 lenses is ideal. Most of the time you are close up to the animals and a long lens is not practical. Ideally two bodies are perfect as never have time to change lenses when the action kicks off. Have a great trip Savanna is my favourite game lodge. I can recommend Neil as he is a passionate photographer
