Pinos Altos was once the scene of a gold (silver) rush, like the one in California! In fact, the newspaper mogul George Hearst made a lot of money here investing in mines and building a railroad. Other famous, and infamous, people were here as well. Kit Carson, Billy the Kid, Judge Roy Bean (before he was a judge) and Cochise,...

Two story cabins, hundreds of birds that they feed, deer walking by, balcony, firewood provided. Hwy 15 dead ends at the clip swelling in the gala National Forest. Across the street you can hike the hills and you will be walking on top of an old silver mine great history SilverCity was a letdown although the Toad Creek Cafe was...

Bear Creek Cabins are situated just up the hill from Silver City which makes all your civilized needs easily accessible. The cabin complex, however, is situated at the intersection of two separate streets which prevents a true "away from it all feel". The streets are not terribly busy and traffic noise is not really an issue, but still... The cabins...

The cabins are charmingly rustic and the staff are attentive. But don't every try to schedule a wedding here. The wedding planner is unbelievably rude and their prices are completely ridiculous for what you get.

We were looking for an unusual place to stay near the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Well, this place certainly fit the bill! Not only that, since we were traveling with our nephew, we wanted a place that offered separate sleeping areas, and this one did that as well! Our cabin (#2) had a loft with a double bed and a couple...

This place is absolutely adorable. We had a great relaxing time just staying inside. It was far too cold to go out hiking but the fireplace kept us cozy. You really need to see this place to appreciate all the cool woodwork. We had the best time and can't wait to go back.

I stayed here for 3 days of day-hiking in the National Forest, which is just almost at the end of the property. This wasn't a luxury cabin but still very comfortable and had everything that I needed. The cabins and the property were very clean well maintained. My cabin was two-story with the bedroom up a steep set of stairs,...

I have been coming here for years and I always have a great time. Recently, however, I think the place has come under new management. Everyone is super friendly and they have also been doing some deep cleaning on the cabins. When I was here last time, I left behind a bag of jewelry. Not very expensive stuff, but one-of-a-kind...

If you really want to get away this is one place to stay. You are not far from Silver City, NM but you would think you were in another world. The cabins are very modern. Ours had cable, a microwave and a fridge. There was internet during the day. No cell phone access. If you like bird watching there are...

Nice cabins at an affordable price. Located about 20 minutes north of Silver City, in the middle of the "tall pines" this location is quiet and restful. The cabins are well appointed and clean. I'd love to stay here again!
