We arrived here on Saturday November 5th around 9pm. Upon arrival The owners were not very welcoming or friendly. It felt like they were just doing it for the money. The price for a double bedroom was considerably high too: around R550, excl breakfast. At 09.50 PM we were told to leave the common room because they wanted to close...

The rooms here are fairly functional, and the bathroom was rather sparse and didn't really dry out. It was very cold at night when we stayed, and the heater on the wall didn't provide much warmth. Very early one morning a large group of people ate breakfast outside our room on the veranda, which woke us up. I think the...

Easy to find and the owner is friendly and personal. Rooms are very quaint and comfortable with a lovely garden and patio area. All rooms are ensuite. No dorm rooms available. But it's worth the visit. Near the hiking trails and horse riding.

I have now read the reviews which I am no doubt going to echo here, I wish I had before we booked here. The lady who runs the hostel took around 20 minutes to come to the reception after we arrived, despite booking and advising of our time of arrival. Meanwhile her incredibly aggressive dog barked incessantly at us (thankfully)...

The title says it all. I have stayed in many many backpackers all across the country. Not secure and overpriced cheap rooms. Disappointed to discover some of our stuff got stolen as well (from a private room!!). A travellers lodge is supposed to be a safe place not like this sorry.

Me and my boyfriend spent there 2 nights. Despite its name this place is not backpackers as commonly known in SA. It does not have dorms and the cheapest room for couple costs 480R/night. Room was very basic, which was quite dissapointing considering its price. It was very cold and damp room, we could not get warm there. Beds were...

We needed a weekend away from the craziness of life and felt like footloose travellers arriving at the backpackers under the trees in the shadow of the glorious mountain. After a welcome cup of tea, we were booked into our lovely, clean twin room with our own en suite bathroom. Wonderful, crisp linen and such scrumptious mattresses that we just...

This was my first stay at a backpackers and I truly enjoyed it. The room was very clean, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and the facility was full of character. The owner was delightful and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The morning horse ride was such a memorable event, that we will definitely return in future.

We stayed here for a night at the start of our travels along the garden route based on a recommendation in the lonely planet. Quite frankly, I have no idea why they recommended the hostel and can't believe they stayed at the same place! On arrival, the owner was quite abrupt and did not come across as very friendly. She...

I've stayed in one of the timber huts and also camped there. I must be getting old or something, but wow, have expectations changed for so called backpackers these days! Some of these reviews are just astounding! If you are a true traveller who appreciates basic accommodation, at a fair price, likes to be in surrounded by a lovely setting...
