On arrival we were met by the guest house owner and shown to our rooms. They were beautifully decorated and the bathrooms were so lovely! There was lots of choice at breakfast and the grounds were very relaxing. Overall a lovely stay and we were made the feel very welcome

Hi Caroline Thank you so much for your review. We are fortunate to be situated in a quiet neighbourhood and our pool area and gardens are at the back of the property. Our gardens are mainly planted to indigenous and water wise plants and as we are experiencing a severe drought in the Western Cape our gardens are standing up...

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our three week trip to South Africa. The guest house was nice and relaxed. The owners and managers were their when you needed them but you were left to your own devices. Breakfast was served out in pretty court yard, food was nice and fresh. The pool area was nice but the...

Thank you for your review. Often we find through experience that honeymoon couples like to have more privacy than other guests and therefore we do not like to disturb them too much. We have a 24-hour service and you only need to ask for help. As we have been managing La Fontaine for 16 years and have lived in the...

This is a quirky and beautiful property, being an old school house. We stayed in rooms that were in the gardens, and I think I got an upgrade of sorts because my room was bigger than my friend, with a little lounge area and kitchen. This was a particularly nice room that faced onto the pool, but I guess if...

Happy New Year! Thank you for your detailed review. I think in any business location is of utmost importance and we are very fortunate that we are within close walking distance to the main street but still having the added advantage of being in a quiet neighbourhood. The gardens and the swimming pool are behind the main building which adds...

For a lover's tryst or special weekend away, try the gorgeous Lemon Room or Orange Room, the pool-side cottages with private patios. Outstanding operation by Cathy and the most fabulous breakfast. Great service, always willing to go the extra mile, high standards and always a first-class experience.

Happy New Year! Thank you so much for your review. The Lemon garden suite is a standalone suite which adds to its charm. Our breakfast is prepared freshly every day from local produce and we make our own muesli. It is great to know that guests, having had a pleasant stay at La Fontaine, return to us again and again....

La Fontaine was our last stop on a recent visit to S.A. It is located in a residential neighborhood in the center of Franschhoek, in the center of the Winelands. Franschhoek seems to be a major tourist attraction in this part of the country, but La Fontaine manages to rise above the uproar. It is the granddame of guesthouses with...

We hope that your wish will come true so that you can spend more time at La Fontaine and Franschhoek. It is said that Franschhoek is one of the most beautiful valleys in the world and with Cape Town being voted as the No 1 city in the world, within 1 hrs drive from Franschhoek, it is all the more...

"5 star experience at a 4 star guest house" This is the first time I've left feedback on trip advisor. However, in this occasion I felt it was rightly deserved to express our gratitude of amazing hospitality to the wonderful owners and staff members. We stayed at La Fontaine guest house from the 7th Dec to the 11th Dec. The...

Thank you so much for finding the time to submit your detailed review. Service with a smile is our motto. The management and staff are very knowledgeable regarding the activities and what each service has to offer in and around Franschhoek. La Fontaine is perfectly positioned, close to the main restaurants, shops and galleries, but the neighbourhood is very quiet....

Situated just a little off the main street in an ideal location for local restaurants and shops.Guest house is extremely well run by Cathy and her colleagues. Lovely gardens surround the property and the rooms are big, airy and tastefully set up. Our bathroom was enormous!

Thank you so much for your review and those kind words. After 16 years, with a good number of staff having worked with me during this time, I hope we have come to a winning formula but as always one must not be complacent as there is always room for improvement!! We hope that you and/or your friends and family...

Our stay at La Fontaine was pleasant, but neither here nor there. The staff friendly and helpful. Our room had a very musty smell, and the windows would not open. The room had an aircon, which is great and offered tea and coffee. The garden seems a bit untidy and needs some maintenance. The guest house is very well situated,...

Thank you for your review. The room you stayed in was in our Victorian section. The windows do open but when an aircon is in use it is better to have the windows closed to save energy. Regarding the garden, we are regularly cutting back the shrubs and bushes. We have just come through the spring season and with our...

Lovely guest house, clean, and welcoming by owner. Breakfast was excellent and was included in the rate. However we had a front room and it was bin collection day so very noisy. The street was also noisy, so my advice is ask for a quiet garden room at the back.

Thank you so much for your review. In our street, Dirkie Uys, the traffic department has put up signs which forbid any trucks or buses to use this road. Unfortunately the rubbish trucks, which only pick up rubbish once a week, have to access this street to get to our wheelie bins. La Fontaine is centrally situated which is a...
