We had a fantastic stop lovely staff and the owner was very helpful arranging local restaurants. The outside space and pool are really lovely. Breakfasts are also fabulous. If you visit a tip is to book your restaurants in advance as it is a very busy town in peak times.

We stayed here for 4 nights in February 2017. The location is great and while a car is needed it is about 15 mins walk into the centre. Jeanne and Clive are good hosts and helpful with advice on things to do. Everything is spotless and their staff very friendly. Breakfast was first class and we had it on the...

We enjoyed a peaceful two night stay at this lovely, quiet guesthouse. It has a vintage feel to it. Our room was comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the shower. The water pressure was strong and the shower flooring is made of stones, which provided a kind of massage effect on the balls of our feet. The...

The Maison d'Ail is Franschoek at it's very best and great value for money. It's conveniently sited to the Restaurants in Town but far enough away to be perfectly quiet. It's run by wonderfully attentive staff who seem to know when to appear and when not. The Breakfasts were simply super and the Owner Clive seems to have got it...

Although the initial approach is a little disconcerting once you enter the whole experience is first class, public rooms are stylish , very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Close to the center of Franschhoek but just a little to far to walk which was the only minor downside

This guesthouse simply blew our minds away! Everything about it was superb in every small detail. The owners were fabulously welcoming; the rooms would not have been out of place in a 6-star hotel; the breakfast layout was incredible; the beds the most comfy we have ever slept in and it was so peaceful! Absolutely no hesitation in returning -...

Stayed as couple for one night as part of Cape Town trip. After reading excellent reviews, slightly disappointed. Specifically lots of noise, with dogs barking from around 5am onwards, and lots of neighbouring properties with children in pools etc. Breakfast also rather poor. So all in all, whilst good value, not a great experience.

We had a lovely time here - the rooms we had were lovely and clean - very comfy beds. The location is good - a bit of a walk from the centre but we had a car so no problem. The breakfast was good quality too. I would recommend.

We were attracted to this boutique hotel by the images we saw on the website, the reviews and the fact the owners Jeanne and Clive were hands on.However the web cannot encapsulate the intimacy privacy and energy of this place - it is a real oasis once you enter the walled garden. The service is exemplary but not obtrusive. The rooms are...

In February 2012 we stayed here for a few nights and really liked our stay, so we decided to once again book Maison d'Ail for another stay. The location is perfect, just 5-10 minutes walk from all the restaurants and shops in town. We really like the style and decor of the place. Lovely natural colors. Spacious and comfortable rooms...
