We stayed in mid August upstairs. Went to get into bed at 12:30 am and much to my dismay, there was a bed bug crawling in between the sheets. As I pulled it down further, there were at least 5 other bugs!!! No one would answer the staff phone or the office door. Needless to say, we packed up and...

The Strathmere Motel is a unique experience. Very laid-back and no-frills. Great location- one block from the beach (no beach tags req'd) and a walking/bike riding distance to local bars and restaurants. Strathmere is a great little, quiet shore town. The owners of the Strathmere seem to be very laid-back. They've always been accommodating and work with me on weekday...

Try to stay somewhere else, but if you must, choose room #8 (1 queen) or #9 (2 queens) because these are the only 2 rms that will make it worth your while because they have a view of the ocean. I stayed in # 7 and while I was able to scarf up 2 plastic chairs for my common deck...

I think the other reviewers are too picky. No, this isn't a swanky Motel...It's old...But who cares? I stayed in room 1 last night with my husband. We were thrilled to find a place that was CLEAN, AFFORDABLE ($139 for two doubles and a full eat in kitchen), CLOSE TO THE BEACH (4houses away), PARKING and COMFY BEDS!!! No problems...

Hi Scott-fan, thanks for the great review! You are correct in saying that it is an old shore house, built in 1920 and not converted into a motel until 1950. We all got a laugh out of "in fact I dont think they advertise at all." We try not to advertise too much, we don't want everyone to know about...

Never again!! Mattresses should have been replaced years ago. Air conditioner didn't work properly. Room was a reasonable size and clean. Way to DARK,! Way overpriced!! Worth maybe what they charged. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Love the idea of an old school place, don't need wifi or anything fancy -- but this place is actually dangerous because it is so poorly maintained. A bathroom door would jam and lock you inside. One of our crew was trapped in this windowless room for hours. Ceiling fan had exposed wires and was hanging off the ceiling. Air...

The motel was very conveniently located, minute walk to the beach and a very short drive to Ocean City for some rides and sea isle city for some excitement. WAY WAY quieter then OC or SIC. One word of advice if you are of a larger body type, the inside showers are quite small, but the outside stall showers work...

Hi William, thanks for the review! The one thing that our guests love the most about the Strathmere Motel is how much quieter it is than motels located in OC or SIC. It just gets too rowdy in those towns! I think the outside showers actually get used more than the inside ones. Again, we thank you for your kind...

Our family of 5 was unable to take our usual week at Strathmere (we always rent a house for a week), so we decided to try out the Strathmere Motel. We booked a long weekend (Friday to Monday) and it could not have been more perfect. If you are looking for luxury with the standard amenities, this is not your...

Hi Anne Marie, thank you very much for the kind words! The rest of the staff have been made aware of your generous comments. We certainly do not label ourselves as luxurious, we're more of a 'walk into the office in bathing suit and bare feet' kind of motel. We love our guests, over the years they all become friends...

Strathmere motel is a nice little motel. Although the rooms are small they are very clean and comfortable. My problem was the attitude of the owner or manager(not sure who he was as he never identified himself). We checked into two rooms, my husband and grandson in Room 15 and myself and two granddaughters in room 11. After having spent...

Hi Delgor 501, we are terribly sorry to hear about the issue with the hot water. That is something no guest should have to endure. The manager on duty did know about the problem and should have accommodated you by moving you to a different room. He has been made aware of this fact. We do appreciate you taking the...
