If you're thinking of here for a wedding venue please consider your guests. The parking is barely sufficient which is a problem when you have hundreds of guests arriving at once. But if you want them to get ready beforehand? Forget about it! 3pm check-in with a 5pm required start? 3pm is "as available" because they can't turn the rooms over fast enough. Staff was rude from the get go, I get you are asked the same question 100 times but it's literally my first time inquiring for clarity and it's quite honestly the job. Do not come here if you're a wedding guest expecting to get ready on time and if you're planning one, please think of your guests and go somewhere worth the price.

Hello, I am so sorry your experience with us at The Oyster Point Hotel fell short of your expectations. Thank you for your honest feedback about your stay with us, we truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know about the issues that caused your stay to be less than ideal. The points that you have made are certainly valid and would absolutely frustrate me as well were I in your position. We will be passing your review along to management to review your notes and help prevent situations like this in the future, as this truly does not reflect the typical Oyster Point experience. I would be happy to discuss your stay further if you would like to reach out to me directly at khanlon@mollypitcher-oysterpoint.com. All my best, Kelsey H. Front Office Manager

As the saying goes, ‘location, location, location’, and The Oyster Point Hotel certainly has that. Located along the estuary and close to a wide range of shops and restaurants, it has a lot to recommend it, Unfortunately, the devil is in the details and for an establishment that tries for Boutique status, it falls short. In our View Room, overlooking the water, there were bare hooks on the wall where artwork had been removed. The stopper in the bathtub did not work. The safe in the room did not work. The walls were so thin that we could clearly understand a casual conversation in the neighboring room. The staff was extremely enthusiastic and friendly, but other than sympathy, they could do nothing about the room’s failings. I should add that the hotel restaurant, The Pearl, which is reviewed separately, was quite nice. So, overall, a stay that could have been a joy turned out to be…adequate.

The Oyster Point is my home hotel. I grew up right across the river from it (literally, you can see my mum's house from the North Suite), and have many good memories of holiday brunches, and staying here when I was younger. When I moved away from home and wanted to visit, but not stay with family this was my "go-to". It's really the only decent hotel in the Middletown area. ...and that may be why they have let the hotel go a bit. I got engaged over Christmas, and while we didn't want to have a full on engagement party, we did want to celebrate with a few very close friends, and COVID being COVID we didn't want to do it in public, but also didn't want to do it at our house. So, we rented the North Suite for Valentine's Day weekend to stay and invited two other couples for a dinner in the room on Saturday evening. THE GOOD: The room is very large and has amazing views from just about everywhere of Red Bank and the Navesink River. In the warmer weather this room would be paradise with the very large terrace overlooking the river. It has 1 full bathroom in the bedroom and a half bathroom in the living area which makes it ideal to have guests over. There is also a table that seats 6 comfortably (tho oddly only has chairs for 5). The staff was wonderful. They always have been. Every time I have ever been to this hotel the staff is so friendly and helpful. (More on the downside to this shortly). We ordered room service for our dinner Friday night and it was quick and tasty and again the service from ordering to delivering was great! THE BAD This room looks great from a distance, but up close it needs A LOT of updating. The chairs around the dining table were full of chips. The table was in bad shape. The sofa in the living area was DISGUSTING with a stain that took up half of it. We covered it with a runner from the bed because it is really disgusting looking. The room is full of wall to wall windows with a great view of everywhere, but it's curious because the one wall that goes along the far end of the room by the bar the shade couldn't be put up or down. There was no string/rope/whatever to do anything with it. (the shades in the bedroom go up and down with the flip of a switch and are blackout curtains. They are perfect for the bedroom) The other shades in the living area do go up and down, but they hardly keep any light out... ...which is I guess a good thing since the lighting situation in the room is abysmal. Once the sun sets even with every single light on in the room you can hardly read a book with the awful lighting in the main room (lighting in the bedroom and bathrooms is fine). The sink in the main bathroom in the bedroom is no joke about 3 inches deep. You can't even wash your hands in it. I have no idea who thought this was a good sink, but most puddles after a sun shower are more functional. The half bathroom in the living area has a more functional sink but the black wallpaper does not fit the hotel or vibe of the room at all. It's maudlin at best. The phone for some reason would not let us call the front desk. For our entire stay every time we tried to call the front desk it was just busy. I wanted to get a blanket Friday night and had to call the hotel's main number from my cell phone because from the hotel room it was just busy for hours. Same thing Saturday. I wanted to ask something and the phone just was busy. We got room service, but the front desk was just busy busy busy. Also, because we wanted a blanket I tried calling housekeeping, and I just kept getting a message there. So, while the help is great...it doesn't go very far if you can't reach them. The really annoying thing about this stay was that when I made the reservations I asked if our dinner guests on Saturday evening and us could order from the normal menu and not just the room service menu. I was told absolutely. We could order whatever we wanted from the regular menu and get it delivered to the room. I called again a couple of weeks before our stay to verify this and was told very curtly by the only unfriendly person I have encountered at this. hotel that NO we could only order off the room service menu "that is why it's called room service" she said. So...rather than call a third time to get more mixed messages we just got catering from a nearby restaurant and picked it up before dinner on Saturday. Of course we found out upon checking in that indeed we could order whatever we wanted from any menu at the restaurant and get it for room service. So, the hotel lost money and we saved money as the catering was likely cheaper than the Restaurant menu, but it would have been so much more convenient if we had known that in advance and not gotten mixed messages. The really terrible part was not entirely the hotel's fault. There was a wedding party or people from a wedding party in the room that adjoined our room. I'm sure I've been a part of a loud wedding party in my life, but this was an exceptionally annoying and loud wedding party that had a lot of rooms on the same floor. There is a connecting door to the room next to the North Suite where they were staying and you literally could hear people just having normal conversations in that room. I never realized that the walls at the hotel were SO paper thin. Which is even worse when Friday night the wedding party came back to their room and decided to party...and party...and party. And continue the party Saturday they did with a lot of pot that you could smell in the hallway and eventually in our room. The walls being so thin were made worse by the LOUD obnoxious music being blasted from the room was awful and you could hear all the cursing and people yelling over each other. We had to leave the room because it was truly terrible. Our dinner went fine with friends altho the room isn't really adequately set up for anything like it, despite advertising that it is. The refrigerator in my dorm room was bigger than the one in the room and the teeny tiny garbage can roughly fits one tissue. We didn't want to deal with the rowdy neighbors when they returned from the wedding so we left after dinner and will likely never return to stay a night at the Oyster Point. We will be back for meals as the restaurant is great and has a fantastic view/service, but I think my nostalgic memories of The Oyster Point are over. For over $1,000 to stay in Red Bank, NJ for two nights in February I would expect much more from a room. Honestly it's a big suite with a great view, but that is all.

So disappointed that I held my daughters bridal shower at this venue. I discussed and agreed to hold it in a room with an outdoor deck space and then…. That space was no longer available to us because the venue double booked the space for outside diners. When I asked if those diners could be moved indoors that was not an option….. meanwhile the indoor dining area was completely empty for the duration of my event. Do not book an event at this venue.

Upon arrival checking-in was seamless. Corinne gave us our room assignment. She was so professional and very friendly and attentive to our needs. Alexis was so helpful and professional. She was incredibly resourceful in helping us to resolve a minor issue. The rooms are big and clean and the water views are amazing!!!

Overly priced stay. Recent stay in the area and this was the only available hotel. Unfortunately we had the room above the reception/event room. Music was so loud we couldn’t sleep; vibrant from speakers shook the bed. Should not offer these room without a disclaimer if function is being held or at the very least, offer at a discount. Too tired to dress & pack up so waited it out until the party was over. Didn’t find the front desk/door men/valet overly friendly. Guess I don’t expected better from a $300 a night hotel.

We booked our sons christening party at the Oyster point hotel. We were in Ballroom A. The menu that was provided to choose from was definitely not worth what we had paid. We ordered a mozzarella Tower for an appetizer and received a tomato and a piece of mozzarella a sliver of portobello. The chicken was supposed to have a sauce which it did not and also the same with the steak..i ordered a Mississippi mud pie for my guests and what i got looked like a chocolate crust/ shell with marshmallows and ice cream..the deck was completely unsafe and they should be checked by a buildings department because their 2nd floor railing was so loose..parents were scared to let their kids by it. This hotel was a safety hazard for my guest. We will not recommend for any future events

I am absolutely shocked and appalled by the lack of professionalism displayed by the Oyster Point hotel. We had been in contact with the Catering Events Manager Katie Glass; however, due to the sloppiness displayed by the entire Oyster Point Hotel staff, we have decided to book our Bridal Shower elsewhere. Working in the event services, you would assume that the staff would be attentive, perceptive to the needs of the party, and competent. The catering event staff took days to respond and would ignore voicemails left on their phones (this was done multiple times). I was told by Ms Katie Glass that my event would be secured once they received the deposit and contract; however, no one ever forwarded me the contract nor information to secure the deposit. I was informed over a week later that the event hall I was interested in was no longer available and now only the hall which is 2x larger and requires the double amount of guests to book is available for my date. If anyone from the catering staff had called the phone number I listed as my contact, or attempted to email me as they stated they would, I could have been able to properly schedule and organize this event. We are absolutely not interested in booking any events at the Oyster Point or Molly Pitcher hotel and will be sure never to recommend you or your services to our friends and family. Brides, be aware!

Totally disappointed in this hotel. Reservation mixup forced family to move rooms mid stay. No one willing to help and remedy the situation. Front desk staff either doesn’t care or doesn’t understand customer service. Management doesn’t answer the phone and is inaccessible in person. Several members of my family experienced the same, unfortunately. Save yourself the frustration and book a different hotel

The only good thing I have to say about this hotel is that the bed was pretty comfortable. The rooms were stark white decorated with a mix of 80s and current decor - very odd. But I can typically get past that. However I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn’t have blackout curtains. The blinds were simple vertical blinds that you’d find in an office so that at 6am I was wide awake. And coffee was nowhere to be found. Could not get replacement packets for in room coffee maker and coffee either just wasn’t available in the lobby or urn was empty. And no breakfast until 8am so no coffee available in restaurant. About half the staff seemed to not want to be there so service was mostly subpar. Just a really disappointing experience. 4 of my business colleagues stayed there 1-3 nights and we all had the same opinion. Will never stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.
