Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was a safe 4 block walk to the PATH train, which unfortunately was closed but there was a ferry to Manhattan a block away. Parking costs $25. Room was more like a small apartment with a separate bedroom. Very comfortable.

Price and stars are not according with the offering. This a very old property (maybe 20 years ago without an update) zWe were 4. The second bed is a very old and damaged sofa. Impossible to rest. You can get really good hotels at the area for the price.

Hi fejaramillo, Thank you for leaving us your review and for making us a part your visit here in Jersey City. We are grateful that you've chosen the Candlewood Suites to host you. As always, we wanted nothing more but to ensure your experience turn as positive as possible. I'm sorry that on this visit, yours was different because of what you perceive of the hotel atmosphere and the condition of the sofa. I understand you had challenges getting rest on it. I'm sorry that this stay didn't go as perfectly as planned, fejaramillo. We recently completed a full renovation of our hotel to give a fresh new vibe including our decors too. Anyhow, I took the necessary steps to ensure our management gets to read your post and be discussed amongst all concerned staff. We are always on the lookout for ways to make your experience memorable. Reviews such as this goes a long way in identifying areas where we can improve. We may not have gotten off the right foot but I'm positive to make it better for your next stay. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us. Best regards, Frank A. Case Manager IHGService

Sara booked this apartment as it was cheap and close to everything and we could just use it as a place to sleep. This is more than just a bed the location is great - if we stayed in Manhattan we wouldn't have seen this side of the river and in some ways the better side. The

If you staying in Candelwood Suites or anywhere near to Exchange Place or Newport area, you have good options to dine at Indian and Other Cuisine Restaurants. Your avg meal cost should be $10 and maximum can go to $15. If you opt for Buffet then the price will vary based on place you choose to dine. All in all, you can plan to have $150 at max for a week as food outside, if you plan to have lunch and dinner outside. Travelling to New York from Candlewood or Newport will be $2.5 per trip. So with 5 days to NY for travel, on an average you will spend $ 25 per week. So Food and Travel gets you $175 per week (5 days) and then what you do on weekend and how you plan your day will be additional. Hope this information will help you to plan the trip.

If u have less luggage you can use the subway to reach WTC and then the path from WTC will directly take u to exchange place which is hardly 5 min walk from candlewood.
