We have been spending several days here every summer for many years. Before the current owners purchased the Chalfonte, however, we seriously considered finding another hotel in this lovely beach town due to the lack of amenities. The hotel has kept its old fashioned charm, but now has much improved the level of comfort it offers. Air conditioning is the...

My husband and I spent a lovely three nights at the Chalfonte. I found the hotel to be charming and old-world like! I loved the large porch. It was wonderful to sit out there and just read and watch the world go by. The lobby and downstairs rooms are beautiful and fun to explore. Our room was small but served...

We stayed here for one night (a Friday) as they were one of the few places in Cape May that allowed a single night stay in high season. We arrived in a monsoon so were thrilled with the 15-min parking right outside the door. We stayed in room 46, second floor, which faced a side road and had a 'premium'...

I stayed here recently for a night with my husband and one year old daughter. We were able to check in early at 1pm. The room was perfect- very nicely decorated, a/c was comfortable, bed was comfortable, and flat screen tv was an unexpected surprise. We enjoyed our night stay as we just came over on the ferry from DE...

We did go with an open mind for the historic experience only after we asked and were told there was a/c in the rooms. When we arrived it was not turned on so the front desk assured us they would turn it on and they did. Only in the late evening they turned it off leaving guests to swelter. There...

A visit here really is like a trip back in time, so if that's not your cup of tea then look elsewhere. But if it is, a visit to the Chalfonte is a lot of fun. Keep in mind the hotel is old...really old, and you've just got to roll with it. The rooms vary wildly, but the room I...

I came here with my fourteen-year-old daughter and stayed for a week. The experience was great. The Southern-style meals in the Magnolia Room restaurant were absolutely delicious and satisfying. The rooms were clean and convenient. There were many ways to keep busy on the one rainy day we had, whether it be board games in the television room or listening...

We frequent Cape May every year during the 4th of July. Our usual BB was booked so the only place that had availability was the Chalfonte. This will be our last time booking here at the Chal-not. There was no TV in the room and when I called the front desk they told me that they remove them during the...

Our family of four stayed at The Chalfonte for four days and it was wonderful. We have two teenagers and we all loved it. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We liked that there was no tv or phones in the room, as it really felt like you were back in time. The room was decorated Victorian and you...

we visited the hotel for dinner because their fried chicken was supposed to be wonderful. We had to order the complete meal for $36 which included an appetizer and salad....which I did not want. The chicken leg and thigh was very very dry and very small. It was horrible.. I asked for a potato and had to have the non...
