My partner and father and I were touring New England. Unexpectedly there was a large blizzard during our stay at the Tartan Fox which kept us inside far more than we would have planned. The owners were so accommodating and thoughtful and went to every effort to ensure our trip was not ruined by the unexpected weather. It was beautiful...

My husband and I stayed here with relatives for an overnight getaway. Both of the rooms we booked were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The common area living room was spacious and was filled with books and vintage records, and had information on all the area restaurants. There was a wood burning fireplace that made the room warm and cozy. Mike...

Our decision to stay at the Tartan Fox inn was a happy accident. We decided at the last minute to change our travel plans and spend the night near Keane, NH. Although we arrived last minute, late and tired, Mike was incredibly hospitable and gave us the most comfortable room in the house. Even though we were exhausted, we had...

My wife and I stayed here when visiting friends for Thanksgiving. We found our room very nice, I especially enjoyed the gas fireplace that gave a warm and comfortable tone about the room. The decor was very fitting and seemed historical with a comfortable bed and on suite bathroom. In the morning we had a wonderful breakfast starting with coffee...

Our stay was great as usual and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. Only needed a reading light. The fireplace worked great and made the room comfortable. Breakfast was great the eggs Benedict done well and the scones delicious. Coffee was better than average and I had three cups. Second breakfast was sourdough pancakes and different but very tasty David...

We stayed 3 nights at the Tartan Fox while visiting my daughter in Keene. The owner was not able to be there when we arrived, so we were greeted with letters on the table and a ball of yarn with the string leading us to our room. We got a chuckle out of that! Our room was very clean and...

Friendly staff, nice house with quiet, and convenient location to tour area; lower floor is friendly for those who do not climb stairs. Breakfast was wonderful and cozy enough to meet other travelers.

The host was outstanding . Breakfast was the best. The room was decorated and the heated floor in the B/R was pleasant surprise . The story of the INN is extremely interesting. The area around Keen is full of site to see within a drive of 30-45 min. A great area to explore .

The Inn is a cozy, beautiful, vintage house with gorgeous nature and areas to relax surrounding it. Suanzey is a cute, quaint little town, with Keene just 10 minutes away. Points of interest are all within ~10 minutes driving time. The host, Mike is very organized and prepared for all of his guests. He's also welcoming, knowledgeable, and an astounding...

We love where we live here in New England, but sometimes you just have to get away from the "to do" list and daily routine. We chose The Tartan Fox for our "home-away-from-home" stay-cation for its easy to get to proximity and perfect location - right in the middle of everything we love in the Monadnock region! What we found...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tartan Fox Inn is at The Meadmere Country Manor House located less than 10 minutes from Keene, giving you a rural setting while being close to shopping, restaurants, colleges, theater, hiking, bike trails. Four comfy rooms, each with a private bath, so you won't be sharing with other guests. They are decorated with Scottish Tartans, a different plaid for each room. This is the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire and is the perfect location for exploring surrounding towns and neighboring Vermont and Massachusetts. The inn has cable TV, wireless internet access for your computer and off street parking. With close ties to the local community, Mike has recently taken over the Inn. Local events, fun and frolicking in Keene is just min away!. Fresh eggs for your breakfast and homemade scones with jam are a separate food group! We can also accommodate special diets, such as gluten free with advance notice. Just let us know so your trip will be memorable, right down to the food. Our location gives you a nice country feel, yet you are only minutes to downtown Keene. We love gardening, but in our own way. You won't find rows of flowers lined up like soldiers, I take a more free hand approach. Volunteers grow where they pop up, weeds are pulled, and we try to have habitat that caters to our many species of song birds. The Meadmere Home is a gorgeous older structure that was built in 1832 and most recently housed the studio of Norma Stafford, an artistic icon to the Keene area. We enjoy keeping that tradition by maintaining a local artisan gift shoppe on the premises that showcases local Monadnock artistry. ... more   less
