Continental Breakfast does not exist, it’s more like a microwave sandwich, juice, oatmeal, and muffins. Definitely not worth the price of an included breakfast with your stay. The fitness center is a basement room with 3 treadmills that is hot and super humid in the same area as the laundry center. The bed was pretty comfortable and the AC works well outside of that there’s not much to be happy about here.
Not sure how this hotel gets a good rating - maybe price? Portsmouth is expensive. You get what you pay for. First, this place smells like cigarettes masked over from years ago. I read somewhere that there was a pool - Not true. One towel per person. Linens and bed are clean and comfortable. Please wash that orange linen at the foot of the bed. It was gross. Décor is right out if the 70s. Despite the comfortable bed, it was tough to sleep with highway and air conditioning unit. Both were loud. Keep the fan on constant so it doesn’t turn on and off throughout the night. Try inside room. Bathroom tub was super dingy. I think it’s just old and needs replacement. No hair dryer. Overall, the room was clean. Breakfast is handed to you at the front desk to microwave in room. Egg in biscuit. Prepackaged muffins. Breakfast was acceptable; probably result of Covid. The front desk guy was super friendly. Check in was easy. They do not accept cash. Fitness center is some cardio equipment. No weights. Decided to skip the workout based on lack of equipment. Walking to the heart of Portsmouth is about a mile. We opted to drive downtown because of the weather. We found a back road that was a better choice for walking than what google recommended. We walked once, and it was not too bad. Portsmouth is a fun city, but in my opinion, cough up the money and stay at a better hotel. If you’re on a budget, it will suffice. But, remember this get good reviews; it a 2-star hotel. Keep perspective!…
Easy checkin. Delish brownie upon arrival. Slow elevator but easy enough to take the stairs. Room was nice and clean. No pool but we were only there one night. Quick breakfast of free packaged muffins, apples/oranges, juice and coffee. Easy on/off the highway. What more can you need? We didn’t attempt to go to downtown Portsmouth so not sure how far that is.
We arrived on a Friday night after driving 3 hours and I had booked the hotel over a week ago to stay here for two nights. The advertisement noted a pool but they don’t even have a pool onsite. Front desk said hotel used to share a pool with holiday inn down the street. False advertising. Advertisement noted free breakfast. You have to go to desk and ask for it which amounts to a microwaveable sandwich, coffee with non dairy powdered creamer. Yuck. No milk available, no yogurt, no fruit. Not impressed.
This hotel needs a lot of maintenance!!! The air conditioner made a noise all night. The bathroom needs repairs too. The toilet roll holder falls out the wall and the shower keeps adjusting the temperature through your shower.
