Lovely property that combines the best of a hotel and an inn, located close to restaurants and shops. Engaging staff, spacious rooms that are nicely decorated and spotless. Breakfast offered small treats beautifully presented.

My husband and I had stayed here last year for our anniversary so we thought we would try it again. Big disappointment. Our room was on the lowest level near an exit. It was very loud with people going in and out of the hotel. The second night there was a couple staying with a large dog in a room...

How frustrating, I'm so sorry you had to deal with a barking dog!! We only have one dog-friendly room at the hotel, and it's on the bottom floor with one other room (yours). Normally people love those rooms as they are very accessible to the back door and parking lot and are very private. We have a strict policy about...

This lovely old hotel has a new facelift with a mix of contemporary and historic decor in the public areas and updated contemporary bedrooms. We were very comfortable with our room, bed and bath. There were nice touches like 2 spa robes, and an i-pad to use the flat screen tv. Everyone of the staff we dealt with was friendly...

This hotel was immaculate with hands-on service. Room was simply decorated with creative simplicity. The breakfast feature delicious healthy mini optiobs of honey yogurt, oatmeal, fruit salad, egg, pastry.. along with juices, coffee, etc. Certainly something for everyone! Probably the best buffet I've ever had. The location was great for town exploration and walking. Top notch!

We stayed two nights in August. Although the room was rather small for the price, the first night was ok. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean. It is located close to the shops. However, the second night was miserable. The day had been hot and the room was very uncomfortable when we returned from a late evening...

As we discussed during your stay, we were so sorry about your trouble with the air conditioning unit in your room - we have now made sure to make signs for our AC units to let people know of the correct settings and go over it at check-in. (In the ECO setting the units to turn off and on periodically,...

We stayed 1 night on our way to Maine. I was looking for an interesting place to stay with our 14 year-old son and Hotel Portsmouth was perfect. We stayed in room 303 which included a small annex with french doors to an area with a twin bed for our son. He was thrilled with the set up and so...

My wife and I recently stayed at The Hotel Portsmouth and were disappointed with the overall experience. First, be aware this hotel is on the outskirts of downtown and quite a walk from shops & restaurants, especially in relation to your other hotel options. We thought the quaint charm of the hotel would make up for the location. I won't...

We're very sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay at our boutique hotel. The hotel itself is just 2 blocks (or less) from downtown, with many restaurants and shops being located even closer. This is the same distance from downtown as any other hotel in Portsmouth. We gravely apologize for our not providing a Lark Club gift upon...

This is the place to stay. Staff are wonderfully welcoming and the hotel is beautiful! The rooms are fabulous, oversized, and modern. An IPad is in each room to manage your stay and the TV. The shower is extra large and a huge claw foot soaker tub is available. The bed was a dream! Parking is available in back and everything...

We prefer smaller, boutique hotels and we were so delighted to spend two nights at this hotel. Josh and his team really get the idea of hospitality- you feel welcomed even before you arrive! With this gem, we won't be staying at any of the big name hotels in Portsmouth again! Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend in July which sold out after our reservation. They offer free parking in the back and they are about a 10 minute walk to downtown, depending on your pace. The hotel is well decorated with unique touches such as ball mason jars used on the light fixtures in the hallway. Their...
