The Ale House Inn in is a great location, in the heart of Downtown in easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. My husband and I were in town for the weekend celebrating our anniversary, which seems to always coincide with the NH Film Festival in Portsmouth. It's always fun to catch a movie or two, eat some...

This place was very nice. Modern and spacious. Bed was cozy, and big. We were just here for 1 day but very convenient to restaurants and shops. We had to park in another lot though due to some paving across the street, which is originally the parking space for the inn. We also had a complimentary beers! And snacks at...

We spent two nights in Portsmouth with friends. The Inn is on the second floor of a building - there is an elevator to the inn but quite a few steps up to the level where the elevator is located. Normally there is parking across the street in a church parking lot; during our visit we had to park across...

Hotel is very central to a wide array of restaurants and shops. Portsmouth is easy to walk around and only needed the car to visit the submarine Albacore. Parking was fine, as per the other reviews. The reasons I deducted a star were minor but still irritating: 1. The lovely guest lounge pictured in all collateral is quite small meaning...

I like boutique-ish hotels, as they're not all the same. I saw pictures of the Ale House Inn right here on Tripadvisor and fell in love with it immediately. It was a great stay, but it wasn't perfect. Let me explain. Booking: Smooth, just like booking any other hotel on a website. They took about 50% up front, and I...

This inn is gorgeous. We absolutely loved the location, the beautifully renovated rooms. It is walking distance to the whole downtown area of Portsmouth. My fiance could not have planned a better location for us to stay on our engagement weekend. Thank you for an extremely comfortable stay. PS, they have the cutest anchor room key chains...apparently very popular, because...

To those who have reviewed this Inn poorly, I roll my eyes. This place is so amazing we elected to stay in tonight instead of venture back out. We literally refuse to get out of this comfy bed. The mattress and pillows are like sleeping on a cloud. We got the "Petite Queen", which is really all one needs. This...

Ale House Inn is a gem of a hotel, especially with guidance from Craig at the desk. Our daughter thought it might be too hip for us (mid-60s) and suggested a Hilton option, but this was much better in lots of ways. Great location and style. Room ready early. Not for those who can't climb stairs or want to spend...
