We chose this b&b because of where it is located. The room was quite small and it was a little loud, for the reason of our room was on a street side. The breakfast was very good and Sally the host was helpful on everything that we asked her about. A little bit of some touch up work could be... More

Booked in for one night but the place was so welcoming and comfortable that I had to stay another. Breakfast was amazing, different, homemade, menu every morning. Excellent sourdough pancakes! Room was very clean, bed extremely comfortable, and all very picturesque. If I every get the chance to visit New England again I won't hesitate to book in. A great... More

My husband and I just celebrated our 13th anniversary. We choose to celebrate our special day by staying the weekend in Portsmouth. The Inn at Strawberry Banke has the perfect location. This house is 200 years old. We loved its charm and simplicity. The sour dough blueberry pancakes were delicious! We will be back. Thank you Sally and staff.

Great location for walking to downtown and Strawberry Banke. Sally is an excellent innkeeper and is also a great cook. This is a quaint old inn, so don't expect otherwise, which is reflected in the range of opinions given here. This is always my first choice if staying in this area.

The innkeeper and staff are very nice, breakfast was good, and the location is within walking distance to everything Portsmouth has to offer. However, the inn itself needs a serious update. Furniture is old, windows need replacement, the stairway is very steep. The house needs a complete overhaul.

This could be such a lovely place the lady running it is a great person but the Inn itself seems tired and run down. The bathrooms looks like they came from a 1970’s DIY store and the furniture is just old, not antique just old. In the closet was exposed heating ducts and wiring just pinned up, the room had... I'm so glad we chose to stay there and not a modern hotel, we stayed for one night at the end of June on a trip along the coast and were delighted with the place. The bedroom was just so quaint...And comfortable, the mattress was very comfy. We had a really warm welcome when we arrived and breakfast the next... More

We cannot fault the service here and the home cooked breakfast we had was very nice. But be aware that this is an old house which means staircases are steep and corridors narrow. It could also do with a bit of renovation (there were two windows in our room with cracks taped over with sellotape and some of the shutter... More

My husband and I stayed at the inn after a long day of traveling. We just couldn't make the last 3 hours of our journey. So it was a spur of the moment decision. We chose this inn since it was close to downtown and a reasonable rate. The innkeeper was pleasant upon arrival and gave us a great suggestion... More

We were so pleased to find The Inn at Strawbery Banke and Innkeeper, Sally. The Inn is ideally situated in downtown Portsmouth with shopping, dining, the Strawbery Banke Museum, and the waterfront all very nearby. It is a lovely historic building that has all the modern amenities needed for a pleasant stay. We enjoyed a room with a queen bed,... More
