Booked for 3 nights and put in the Cranmore room: we left after 1 night taking the financial hit..... a good decision. The room was small and the thin frilly curtains totally inadequate. The paintwork and window frames were in a dreadful state and flat surfaces were dirty. Tiny television and a squeaky old bedstead. The bathroom was a disgrace - small and filthy. The tap fell off in the shower making it difficult to turn off the water. Breakfast was nothing special, they can’t even be bothered to cut the rind off melon and there was no 2% milk. Perhaps if the owners / staff spent more time on cleaning and maintenance and less time rearranging the excessive, twee decorations, this inn might improve. My advice is to find somewhere else.
Had reserved Cranmore Room. Got there and was given room #105 ?? Was taken out back of the Inn to a converted bldg. When the door was opened, the musty smell from the room was overwhelming. Faucet at bathroom sink were in reverse, faucet handles in bathtub FELL off while trying to operate. Shower head was for people under 5 ft in height, mini fridge door had wedge under it so it would stay closed. Closet in bathroom, the floor was filthy, there was a small fan in closet that did not work so why it was there I don't know. Windows had not seen a cleaning in years with the exception of the rain washing the outside of them. Headboard of bed wasn't attached so it wiggled. No curtains, just very OLD and DIRTY mini blinds that did nothing to keep out the light. Room was like a studio apt, but there was no pots, pans, silverware or dishes. Sign in Main Inn stated NO FOOD in rooms, ?? So why the stove and microwave in room ?? Mattress itself was about 30 years old, and very uncomfortable. Even though you were out in the back, the street noise was quite evident. Heater it had a red blinking light on it and when reading it it indicated FILTER, so either the filter was dirty, or not there at all. Smoke detector did not work. Was afraid to turn on so called heater for I was afraid it would emit CO gases. When telling the Innkeeper about the issues, she was like, what, I don't believe you. She either has not gone in there for a while, or can play ignorant very well. Checked out early for we were supposed to stay 2 nites but after that first nite, there was no way we were going to repeat it. DO NOT STAY HERE !!!…
Our room was a converted porch which was next to the road. It was so noisy all night long! Curtains did not keep out the light. Room smelled and toothpaste splatter was all around the sink from the previous guests! No spoons in sugar bowls so everyone used the ones they were using to eat. JUST GROSS!
The property is need of a serious overhaul. The house needs to gutted and the outside completely redone. The rooms are not clean, the bathroom was awful. Do not stay at this property. The breakfast is bags of cereal, frozen sausage, eggs(with hair) and Keurig coffee/tea. The smells of mold! If you don't have allergies before your stay , you will after the stay.
Horrible room above a garage, nasty old fashioned furnishings, non working fireplace, terrible shower. Microwave but no cups or cutlery? no coffee or tea facilties. Overpriced and we were overcharged by 50cents which is not a lot but if they do that to everyone they are taking extra money without auth. Breakfast included but we decided just to leave early!
Stinking dirty place ever been visited. Impossible to stand and take a shower in a leaking dirty tub. Small uncomfortable bed with an old army blanket. Could not get close to breakfast , so disgusting. Bad internet. Every penny was in vain.
This is the worst place my husband and I have ever stayed. We were booked to stay 10/8 and10/9 with check out on the 10th. We left on the 9th. We lost our money for the day we left. But we just could not stay. It was horrible. The bed was about 12 inchesoff the floor. The blanket was so old and worn. The shower did not have a shower head, it had a handheld hose that you had to use (which we never used). You could not stand up in the shower because of ths slant ceilings... I just finished reading another review and I had a similar problem in the room with fruit flies or gnats. It was just terrible. I don't know how the state of NH lets a place like this stay in business.. If you look at the pictures online it looks like a nice place, but its not. Don't waste your money.
Most of the space was overwhelmed by clutter: paper, boxes, trinkets and dust. Our room had a non working fire place. Our shower had been added in and felt mobile home-ish. Flies when breakfast was put out...store but muffins in the plastic containers. I think the owners should clean up a bit...it would not fix all their issues but help.
To begin....I will give the one redeeming quality of this Bed and Breakfast. The Hostess/Owner was very friendly when she was around, however, you would only see her at breakfast, which wasn't at all bad. I've had much better at other B&B's, even better "continental breakfasts" at hotel chains, but, thats not why I'm writing this review. I understand the going rate of rooms in places during peak season. In northern NH, that time is October. However, what I paid for ($350/2nights) was by far not what I received. There is very little authentic about the House any more. The rooms are chopped up, and poorly decorated. It seems they allowed the local kindergarten class to paint the walls and trim. The local 4th graders built my shower stall, which was three pieces of fiberglass board, held together with sheet rock screws, and wobbled if you bumped the sides. The vanity, mirror, lighting in the rooms (4 lamps/lights- all with different contrasting shades, or light bezels), bed frame (headboard made from cheap golden metal rails was broken), were all slapped together, or cheaply installed. The magazines provided in the room were from 2009.....My room also faced Route 16...and in this time of year, it seemed busy and loud all night, especially through original 18th century window panes. Oh...the fireplaces in every room.....there is a big hand written note stating the fireplaces are blocked...do not use. On an authentic note...One of the throw pillows on my bed was (I'm guessing) an original Signature Series Betsy Ross Special. Complete with 300 years of stains. The towels provided were just a little newer than that. If I thought I could have argued my way out of the second night, AND found other lodging in town, I would have. I just left it alone because I really didn't want to haunt my short visit with searching around for another place.…
Beautiful New England style B&B. Fantastic breakfast. Romantic fire place room. Charming hostess. Close to downtown and shopping area. Room rates reasonable considering time of the year. Our second visit in three years.
