I'll start by saying I don't typically write reviews. I'm a pretty understanding and laid back person especially when it comes to my leisure time so it takes a lot to irritate me. I booked three days at the horse farm for my daughters. To be clear, the accommodations where fantastic. Private, quiet, clean. Honestly it was exactly what I expected and was looking for with one exception…..there were no horses! This was the primary reason for the trip and choosing this experience. I guess the horses were off-site doing some training or something. I feel as though this is something that should have been mentioned to us during the booking process or leading up to our stay. My horse obsessed 9-year old had asked to stay there as a birthday gift since having a birthday party during this pandemic was sort of out of the question. A little communication from Adventure Suites might have helped soften the disappointment. The email they sent me on the day of our check-in with the farm address stated “Our horses are very friendly and will greet you at the fence”. This really helped to amp up the excitement my girls had that was building up over a 4+ hour drive. The email they sent us also mentioned that inside the room we'd find a white note pinned to the wall that would answer all our questions. It was pouring rain so we didn’t really expect the fence greeting, but then we get to the room and read the note that says there’s currently two horses on the property, gives their names and colors, etc. The note did not say anything about the possibility that the horses were off on a vacation themselves. Both girls were super exited and ran out to see them. I then had the pleasure of watching two little girls run out into the pouring rain to the barn and out buildings looking for these horses only to come back drenched and dejected. It’s disappointing to come back from spending money on a vacation (especially at Adventure Suites rates) only to have your child’s take-away from it be that “we got scammed”. It wasn't until day 3 when we ran into the farmer that we even got any explanation as to where the horses were. I don’t pretend to understand how to maintain a farm or horses or what goes into that. I get it, some things are uncontrollable especially when animals are involved I’m sure. My problem is with the lack of communication by Adventure Suites on this and the misleading messages that I relayed to my kids only to further their disappointment. We probably would have kept the reservation anyhow. We were able to enjoy ourselves through it. I was able to book us some trail rides at a horse farm - that had horses - in Maine one day so that sort of softened the blow at bit. I felt the need to write Adventure Suites an email when I returned. Not to blast them or asking for refunds or free future stays, just simply relaying the experience with a suggestion that they work on communication and maybe some disclaimers stating that they don't guarantee they'll be horses at their horse farm. I would have liked some acknowledgement that they failed to deliver what they sold us, even a simple apology. It's been a week now since I sent that and still no reply. They don't care whatsoever which is pretty pathetic. I would have gone back to stay at Adventure Suites again and checked out some of their other rooms with any sort of simple acknowledgement or considerate reply on their part. Would definitely have stayed at the farm again - though would have confirmed the horses would be there first. On general principle alone, as a small business owner myself, I can't support a business that doesn't care about their customer experiences and satisfaction. Very bad business.

My husband and I brought our dog for a night to do some hiking in the area. None of the staff wore masks or followed any health and safety protocols unlike the majority of the local businesses and despite the fact that every customer was. We stayed in deserted island which was rundown and dirty. There were empty screws hanging out of the wall. The sleeper mattress in the room was filled with dirt. We also ran into a large black bear while walking the dog because staff did not close the dumpster (standard for the area so the staff should be well versed in bear safety). We have stayed before and had great experiences but this one just wasn’t great. Overall felt very overpriced for what you got. Didn’t feel comfortable mentioning any of this to staff at the time due to the lack of masking and distancing.

Kids always wanted to stay but too expensive. Wet up as a birthday present for me. Stayed I. The Showtime Suite, What attention to detail! Had a great one and even hubby, who said before we checked “This is the only time we’ll stay here”, was telling friends at the end of ou stay, that it’s worth it and even considering coming back for sons birthday.

My daughter made a reservation for a two night stay for her significant other, who is in the armed forces currently serving overseas. Due to to the COVID crisis, he visit was cancelled with no return date. Our attorney prepared a letter on her behalf after she and her father were not able to reason with them over the phone. This was their response: " Your Daughter was fully aware of our cancellation policy when she reserved a suite with us months ago. As a rule, we only discuss reservations with the reservation holder; not their father. After reading your extremely immature, over the top and dramatic letter (tantrum) you sent to both us and the DOJ, we have decided to happily give you a full refund so that you are not in our lives anymore. This also saves the DOJ from wasting their time. Please be advised that we prefer you and your family chose another hotel when visiting the area. Sincerely, Adventure Suites" Not sure this is the best way to conduct business but there it is.
