The welcome was warm as were our rooms during late January's below zero temperatures. The fireplace and wood stove added to the cozy atmosphere. This was a much better value than other Inns we've stayed at in the Mt. Sunapee ski area and is located on the back side of the mountain, as the name would suggest. Some folks in...

Although our visit was very short (one night) we were impressed with the hospitality and the breakfast. Our room was a little odd- the entrance to the bathroom, in particular- but it was very comfortable and we really enjoyed talking to our hostess (and her sweet dog).

This place has great ,old school New England charm. Anne made us feel right at home. The rooms are cozy and clean with the feel of a country cottage. I had to laugh at one one of the reviews that mentioned that Annes kitchen wasn't clean. I've worked in high end establishments kitchens that, were truly filthy that pale in...

The Backside Inn is close to Mt. Sunapee and Sunapee Lake, and has good value in that regard. It's a bit rough and tumble, is very old and not especially well decorated or maintained. The house has the "bones" for a nice B&B, and one certainly feels comfortable there. Anne, the proprietress, is friendly and easy going.

In our 18 day trip this was our least liked place we stayed. It was just run down in areas which gave us that "icky" feeling. We have stayed in other old places and did not feel that way. There was no internet and you couldn't get reception with AT&T.

Its been a while since I've been up to NH, but had to go up for a wedding this past weekend... And of course I stayed at the Backside Inn... Its convenient to all family and tourist-related things, and I'm now loyal to them based on previous stays... After two years, I'm glad to say that things are still great...

My family met at the inn for my birthday. The hospitality was exceptional. The owner is very accomadating and a fantastic cook. We took our dinners here and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our meals. Thanks Anne for a great weekend.

We spent two nights here for a family birthday party. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Anne, the innkeeper is incredibly down to earth and nice and makes everyone feel right at home. The Inn is super cozy and warm with great wood stoves and fire places and has a very nice historic feel to it. The food here...

We spent 2 nights here the beginning of the month. The Inn is old, fairly simple, clean, and the owner is very friendly. The breakfasts were fresh and we had many choices. We were the only people there that Sunday and Monday so it was very quiet. We were surprised that there was no room service but she said it...

This is one of those places you either love or hate...we love it. It is old, so if you want a newer "cookie cutter" roadside hotel, stay at the Best Western at the traffic circle. We've been here many times and enjoy it's quiet, beautiful location, as well as it's hominess. The food is the best in the area, good...

“Any room in the place is good and there are smaller or larger suites for your party as needed.”

“Though we didn't stay in it, the Skylight Suite room looked great, especially for kids (because it has a separate room with bunk beds).”

“If you like to sleep with the windows open, rooms further back from the road would be quieter.”

“We like corner rooms for bright sun. There was a TV in our room but we didn't use it as we felt comfortable downstairs reading or playing cards by the fire. If you plan to eat in their dining room, let Ann know in advance she is happy to work out a menu with you.”
Millhill42, 27 Jan 2014 | Read review
“Not every room has a TV, so if thats important to you (one way or another), make sure you ask if the room has it... Based on experience with a few rooms, the rooms towards the back of the house have better views and are less noisy from road traffic (theres not much traffic at all, but when a garbage truck drives by, you really dont want to hear it)”
