I've stayed at Madison Spring twice and since they renovated it's even better! The bunk rooms are cozier now yet not so cramped. Beds are stacked four high so get there earlier if you really want to choose. The crew makes an amazing dinner and breakfast, and if the weather is nice you can get stunning views down into the...

As with Lakes of the Clouds, we were very pleased with the croo, the food and the accomodations. This hut has recently been renovated and each room is divided into smaller sections, with each section having 8 bunks--some very high. However, each bunk is very well equipped with a shelf, hooks and a small light, plus enough room to sit...

The hut is one of 3 on the Presidential range and is accessible via several trals ( Valley Way starts out gradually climbing but you do go up 4,000 ft so still challenging). There are 2 bunk rooms of about 24 beds in 3 sections and one smaller one so it is not as big as some of the other...

We stayed at the Madison Spring Hut on the first night (6/28) of our Presidential Traverse and we were very pleasantly surprised. This was our first experience staying in the huts so we didn't know what to expect, other than it would be better than sleeping in a tent and packing our own food. The experience was excellent! The bunk...

In hiking Mt. Madison, it is so great to come upon this hut prior to climbing the summit. (I took the Valley Way Trail). We were staying the night so we checked in and got out bunks. Then we summited the rock pile that Madison is, and again it was a nice respite to reach the hut again. This place...

On a lovely, warm August weekend, my husband, son, daughter-in-law and I hiked to Madison Springs Hut. The hike is very challenging with an elevation gain of almost 4000 ft. We were advised by the AMC agent to take the Valley Way trail to the hut from the Appalachia parking lot on Highway 2. It took us 3.5 hours to...

Hiked to the Madison Springs Hut on July 5th - the hut has recently been renovated - nice bunks, that even include a little reading light. Not a big hut, so not too crowded - it's a pretty good (long) hike to get here. You can bring your things inside and then hike to the top of Madison. (without the...

Nine of us (5 girls/4 moms) hiked to Madison Springs Hut from Mount Washington, after taking the cog railway up. We were originally supposed to start from the Apple Alicia parking lot, however, the weather did not allow us to hike the entire Ridge. It took us 5.5 hours along tricky terrain from the Observatory. The youngest of the group...

Beautiful location and convenient for hiking along the AT and peak bagging. So nice to hear storms raging in the mountains from the shelter of a recently remodeled hut. The hut "croo" was friendly and helpful. The meals were so fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this to anyone willing to hike some miles to get there. It's pricey...

.. or so it feels after the Lakes of the Clouds Hut. No comparison really - the Madison Hut is roomy, spacious, with big windows, lots of light, roomy bunks, lots of hooks and spaces to lay down your things, and even LED lights above the bunks. The food was great as usual, and the croo was entertaining and friendly....
