Located in historic Downtown Las Vegas. The hospitality of the Hawaiian Islands will flower during your visit to the California Hotel Casino. We like to say "Aloha" is spoken fluently here, and our guests enjoy many Hawaiian touches, ranging from dining delicacies such as oxtail soup to the colorful decor reminiscent of the islands' lush, tropical beauty.

My parents dragged me to the California hotel again. The people are wonderful, but downtown is full of Janky people and a year later has the same construction with no progress. The Cal really needs to fix their rewards team. The mailed promo my dad called to book his reservation under was never applied for the free play via the reservation team. We always have to go back to the rewards team to fix something every trip. They added the free play, and then with the paper offer in hand finally added the food credit. It shouldn’t be that hard. It’s a debacle every trip. We have come to expect it and it’s a running joke in our family. The old tower ( East? ) is quieter, but showing it’s age. The bathroom and shower is in a closet sized room. The AC is pretty weak, and our wallpaper was peeling. My parents keep coming, I have pleaded with them to stop. Lovely staff and people, a very weak and struggling rewards team, nice Oh, how I miss old Vegas.

Nice place good atmosphere unfortunately can't recommend for gambling. Had my first handpay but staff didn't know anything about not having to pay tax as I'm not a US resident lost $360 that I didn't have to pay

Can someone from Mgmt please give a truthful answer about the pool being closed since last yr ? Everytime I call the hotel they tell me it's closed for repairs with no date when it will reopen, and are not bring told any details. That is why I'm reaching out here, for some straight answers. A lot of us come to Las Vegas to enjoy the warm weather and also the pool not just to gamble the whole time. When I stayed last June I was told it was closed because of covid and had no idea that the pool was closed or I would not have booked with the California. Now I have rebooked again and I'm not getting any answers as I want to cancel my stay with the California if the pool will not be open in June. Please advise thank you

Thank you for your inquiry. We certainly empathize with the frustration that comes with the feeling of being out of the loop. Our pool renovations are rolling smoothly and we are anticipating an opening in the neighborhood of Memorial Day weekend-early June.

Overall, I would stay here again. My biggest concern was the street noise from my room. Although I was about 13 stories high, the older, single pane window did not block out the noise of trains, sirens, and loud mufflers. The location was walking distance from old Vegas, Fremont Street, Natural History Museum, Smith Center, and Mob Museum. The hotel restaurant was great. Good breakfast and dinner. Their prime rib was excellent. The manager Santo was very friendly and ran a very efficient operation. The lines for this restaurant can get long at peak hours. There was no coffee maker in room, so you have to go down to lobby to ice cream shop, which also has donuts and pastries. I booked several months in advance and got a great rate for a weekend, but normally the weekend rates are significantly higher. There is also an enclosed bridge connecting to the Main Street Casino across the street, which had a weekend buffet that I did not try. Finally, I really liked the Hawaiian vibe at this hotel featuring foods from the islands and many guests were from Hawaii.

I was staying at the Fremont last June. Went to the California to check it out and do some playing. Found it very nice, clean and the staff was very nice. Casino floor was clean and everyone kept it neat. I do have one question if anyone can answer....since I'll be there in June '22, is there a coffee machine in the room? At the very least, is there a coffee bar to grab a cup first thing in the A.M. I usually stay at the Orleans and they had a Java Coffee in the Casino and in room coffee. I'm hoping it's that way at the California.
