I always stayed on the Strip when in Las Vegas on my previous 10 trips but for trip #11 I decided to give downtown a try, having dined at a sister property( Main Street Casino) in the past, and having had enough of the "idiot tax" ( aka Resort Fees that most now charge in Las Vegas) which is an insult to...

The California hotel and casino deserves kudos for their renovation efforts that it has made within the last year. They moved the sportsbook from upstairs and to the casino floor. The Cal sports lounge is a nice place to have a few drinks and watch the various televised games and is connected with a sportsbook! There are 2 more new...

I was afraid to accept a room here at a much cheaper price than on the strip. With my player's card the rate was less than some of the resort fees on the strip. The room I had looked freshly remodeled and had what looked like a 55 inch TV. Each lamp in the room had an outlet that could...

This was my first stay at the California. I have stayed at the other Boyd properties (Fremont, Main Street Station) and thought this would be equal or better due to the new remodel. The remodel of casino is great. The new video poker bar and sports book look great. The room and check in service left me wanting more. First...

Gary, thank you for your online feedback. I apologize for the delay in responding as I was investigating the issue that you mentioned in your survey and online. I regret that the front desk agent did not display the empathy that you were anticipating. I will share your survey and online post with the entire team so they may use...

I loved it! First trip I had in a long time and was very pleased with the hotel and restaurants. The room was very clean and beautiful, beds very comfortable. Food in all their restaurants was delicious, I really liked the Oxtail soup at the Market café. Prime rib dinner was also great. My first time playing keno and won...

First off - my room was comp'ed. That being said, the hotel room I received (number 1530) was better than rooms in other locations where I've paid $150 a night. The Cal recently completed a major renovation of the property and the rooms got a badly needed face-lift. The room had a safe and a refrigerator hidden in the dresser...

Easy and fast check-in, friendly front desk staff. The room is well maintained, very basic, but not remodeled yet. Small bathroom. Loud A/C window unit. Fridge and small safe in the room. They did a great job on the remodel of the casino and restaurants. We stayed in the tower near reception so we were close to the parking garage....

Thoroughly loved my stay here! Clean comfortable room! Pricing was very reasonable. Outstanding coffee shop offering superb service and absolutely delicious food! The $9.99 prime rib special was so incredibly good! I would not hesitate a moment to book this hotel again

Rooms are better since renovation. Check-in area's updated and the colors bring the Cal into the 2010s. There are no resort fee's, however you do pay for it if you'd like WiFi in your room as it's roughly $10/day. Dealers are friendly, staff is always smiling. Great place to step back and relax, away from all the hustle and bustle...
