Oh, Vdara. How wonderful our stay could have been. This place has so much going for it. There's no casino, for a start, so the path from check-in to room is blissful and short. No need to slog through a smoke-filled casino navigating around lumbering drunks chugging on oversized light-up cocktails. Rooms are nice. Not quite Cosmopolitan nice, but perfectly acceptable. Where the Vdara falls short is the fact that it only appears to function as a hotel for about, uh, half the day. Room service ends at 2pm. 2pm! The pool closes at 5pm. Thereafter, there is no outside space, expect, apparently, a dog park. So, should you fancy a little fresh air of an evening, and do not wish to be surrounded by defecating dogs, you are out of luck. The theme continues. There's a Starbucks, but it will be shuttered by the time you want it. Service wise, this hotel feels from a bygone, COVID-era where staff would delightedly informed you that the basic services you have paid for were not available 'because COVID'. Maybe it hasn't yet been restored to full service, or maybe this is the way it's always been. But in short, if you are likely to want a swim or fresh air at 5.20pm, or dare to desire a burger at 2.01, you're out of luck.…
We booked here for my wife's last night in her 40;s and I wanted her to have the best views of Vegas. We had already paid for Trump but I wanted something special. I aksed the check in staff if I could be guaranteed a high room - a tip later and we had the perfect room - high with great views of the Bellagio fountains, These rooms are sizeable and you could easily live here. There was a chip in the kitchen benchtop but that's ok - the room was prefect as was the bathroom. Classy and big with nice furniture and beds. nothing to complain about.
This place has gone way downhill since the last time I stayed here (2017-ish). Paid $350 per night and there was not a single utensil, plate, or silverware stocked in the kitchenette. WTF is the point of a room with a kitchenette if you can't use it? Oh, and when I asked the front desk to send up some up some plates and silver ware they just sent some to-go style plastic ware... absolutely ridiculous. Also $20 extra per night to have a coffee maker in your room... just insane. This used to be my favorite place to stay in Vegas, never again.
If you're looking for a non-casino hotel that's still right in the middle of the action, The Vdara is an excellent choice. The Vdara is a sleek, sophisticated highrise with spacious rooms, an expansive lounge, a 24 hour market and a Starbucks. Full service restaurants and casino are right across the way at sister hotel, The Aria. Right next door to The Bellagio, some rooms offer fountain views. That's what we chose, and were glad we did. The room was quiet and had a comfortable bed and sitting area. Although we had a roomy kitchen with fridge, microwave and two-burner stove, there was no coffee maker. Fortunately, we took another reviewer's advice, and brought our own coffee maker! Highly recommend The Vdara!
What I wrote after my recent stay: I do understand that we have inflation. I also understand that the tourism industry needs to recover from the pandemic years. But raising prices while also reducing quality and amenities doesn’t seem like a good practice. I stayed at this hotel 8 years ago and was impressed, which is why I chose it for this visit without even looking at other places. Our suite was very nice, with a full kitchenette including fridge, microwave and 2-burner cooktop. All those nice cabinets contained absolutely nothing - no coffee maker (we could rent one for $20 - PER DAY), not a spoon, plate, pan or pot. What’s the point of a kitchen where you can prepare or serve no food? (Oh and 2 coffees in plastic cups from room service cost over $25.) The suite also had no robes. The bar downstairs, which had some very nice appetizers and light dishes 8 years ago, was now serving salads in a plastic bowl and chips with about a tablespoon of guac. And a simple gin and tonic cost $18. Maybe all the other hotels in Vegas have declined similarly, but this one is off my list. And my updates: We checked out using the room TV and I expected an email with our final invoice but none arrived. Plus my credit card charges were about $80 higher than expected. I sent a message requesting an invoice, took about a week to receive. What I found was that we were charged $80 for the waters and snacks that were on the counter when we checked in - 2 Fiji waters, a little pack of Gummis and a little pack of cookies! Exorbitant! Here's the kicker - we did take one water but never touched the other stuff! I called the hotel and got it taken off the bill quite easily. What that tells me is that they expect most people won't audit their bills (if they even get one) and will just pay for stuff they never got. So sleazy.…
