The owner was extremely friendly, super helpful with local restaurant choices and trail choices into Death Valley. The 'historical queen suite' we stayed in wasn't much special, but did make for a comfy returning point after long days exploring the valley. Could use a new stronger shower head, but helped to remind me to conserve water in the desert. The...

We were able to book a room at the last minute as our previous plans did not work out. Brooke was friendly and accommodating - I think we learned more about the hotel and area in the first 5 minutes of our stay than we could have on any website. The room was basic with two beds, a simple bathroom,...

Very friendly staff, they went out of their way to make a room available, during a very busy weekend. They provided great information for traveling in the area on and off the beaten path. I would stay here again.

The room is maintained very well. It was quiet and comfortable. Aaron and Brooke were very nice hosts. We would definitely stay there again. It may seem strange to give it an overall 4 star rating with 5 stars on each of the specific categories. However, people need to know that this is not a fancy, upscale place. It is...

The room was basic, clean, had a nice TV, wireless, small refrigerator (we needed to plug it in upon arrival) small microwave. two double beds, fairly comfortable. We needed to call to the main office to get ice. The heaters and a/c...

One thing that is very important to us (and especially my wife) is that the place is clean, and it was. Our room was spacious, even with two queen beds it was not cramped. El Portal Motel is owned and operated by a friendly and very helpful couple. We like to support locally owned businesses. It had wi-fi, a microwave,...

Beatty is a small town. Has a fun museum. Local Mexican restaurant had good food. We used the motel as a place to drop after hiking. So the lack of amenities was just what was needed. wifi was provided but was very slow.

This a charming place, albeit not in the sense of a romantic hideaway or so. The interior was a bit outdated, the airco was definitely an oldie but at the price we paid, it was one of those places that will stick in our memory! It has its own charm and fits perfectly in the entire Beatty atmosphere. There are...

Spent wonderful couple days in the Death Valley area. The facilities here were excellent,,, clean, quiet, friendly staff, and competitive rate. Nearby restaurants were fine -- Mel's Diner for breakfast, Denny's for dinner. Will definitely visit and stay again !
