My wife and I spent the night and had a fantastic experience. Spending time with Jay and his family was as authentic of an experience as one could have. We also had the pleasure of meeting his parents. You are living with the family and they take great care of you. Food was great and the coffee was amazing. Jay and his father have their own coffee farm. Buying a few pounds of premium coffee is a must! The views a fantastic. They are close to hiking trail. Jay will drive you to the trailhead and arrange a guide for you. Highly recommended. We will go back for sure. Michael Russell
My two brothers and I spent two amazing nights with Jay and his Family in early Feb 2020 , while on a driving tour of the country. We were treated very well by all staff and helpers. As a traveler in this country, your friendly attitude and smile will be returned thousands of times over by these lovely people particularly by Jay and Family! One of the highlights was handing out soccer balls and school supplies to Jay's school students as he is also the local teacher. We were rewarded by many many smiles from the children. I highly recommend Jay's Guesthouse , and we will surely return! Thank you Jay! Mike S. Canada
I stayed at Jay's Guest House with my friend for two nights and had a lovely stay. The guesthouse is basic but comfortable, quiet and peaceful with awesome views! We wanted to experience the Blue Mountains but didn't know what to expect. To be honest, there's not much to do in the area but that didn't bother us, we used the downtime to chill and unwind. We opted to do the mountain sunrise hike getting up at 2am; Jay organised a guide for us to take us to the summit. It took us approximately 4 hours to reach the peak and just under 4 hours to descend. Unfortunately for us, it was cloudy at sunrise but we still had a fun time and felt a great sense of achievement (we earned our breakfast!). This was my personal highlight of the stay. We thought the price of the room was affordable but to let other travellers know, we paid extra for the following items and services: * Pickup and drop-off from Kingston city centre ($100 USD) * A guide for the mountain hike ($60 USD) * Pickup and drop-off for the hike closer to the mountain. Optional but worth it ($20 USD) * 3 x small bags of Jay's delicious coffee ($60 USD) The costs above were split between two of us. Although travellers have the option of making their own way to the guest house, I'd recommend being picked up because Jay has a four-wheel-drive passenger van equipped for the purpose. Personally, I'd have been nervous driving on some of the precarious roads heading up there so I'm glad we opted to be driven by staff who are used to the roads. I would definitely stay here again. Jay and family made us feel extremely welcome. Thanks for a memorable and very enjoyable stay :) Jack & Greg…
Went to Jays Guesthouse and had an amazing time and experience. My birthday holiday could not have gone any better. Jays family and friends were very kind. I climbed to the peak, visited the coffee fields and so much more. The hike from here is closer to the peak but still a few hours hike. Jay is easy to talk to so do don’t hesitate to contact him about accommodations or other details. I highly recommend a visit to Jays Guest house in the Blue Mountains. I will return!
We had a great time at Jay's...loved his family, the view, THE FOOD, the other guests, and an impromptu game of poker on the patio using pebbles from the driveway. Cold Red Stripe, soft drinks, some snacks, a relaxing / homey atmosphere, and AMAZING FOOD made our 2-night stay thoroughly enjoyable. Read the description - don't expect multiple-star accommodation - and be prepared for a stunning location and lovely people. And, if the stars are in your favor, you might get curried chicken with pumpkin rice. The BEST food we had during 3 weeks and 4 days in the country.
